I ride year round outside, too. But, for sheer convenience on a shitty day, my summer ride is on a kinetic trainer for the winter. This will keep me from being a slug. Trainers can be unforgiving, and there's never a descent to rest on. The smart trainers are pretty cool, but I'm feeling frugal and will stick to this one for a bit.
