The Isolated Blurt Thread XXIX : So Stupid

Yeah... the trick is not just seeing them but acting in accordance with that perception. That takes a bit of practice. :D

99 and 44/100ths percent of what appears on social networks is nothing but worthless noise and a waste of time. That's why I don't have anything to do with StupidFuckFaceBook or Twatter or any of the rest of 'em.

99 and 44/100ths percent of what appears on Lit is nothing but worthless noise and a waste of time but that's why I come to Lit— i.e., to waste time. I am fully conscious that Lit is mostly a waste of time but it has the advantage of being very lightly moderated and the mix of zanies, crackpots and the occasional, but increasingly rare, bright spark (e.g., oggbashan, Byron In Exile, thør) makes it entertaining and amusing.

Every now and then— and it is rare— I learn something useful that provides a small modicum of justification for the time wasted.

One of the best pieces of advice I’ve retained from my therapist is that whichever path you choose it was the right one. It’s helped my confidence in my choices immensely.

That is great advice! I like that.

Not to dismiss the best parts and what's been gained by such advice, but it seems like a copout and dismissive towards all the dumb shit positions that we unintentionally put ourselves in

Encouraged!!!!

Fuck off, Hash.

You live to be the center of negative attention and then you complain when you achieve it.

This!

If it was an unintentional action how could you have known? It’s a very high level look at decision making, for sure. Perhaps because I research everything that my natural tendencies are to think of every possible outcome is enough to make that one push from a guy who’s known me now for years was effective enough to calm my anxiety.

The point was, for me, that even if it winds up not being the best path I can feel confident enough to try a new one. People tend to get stuck because they aren’t willing to change, yet again. That’s no way to live, in my opinion.

It’s a way to beat analysis paralysis.

Yeah. Add to that the truck is over 30 years old.

I have watched the tubes. One dude uses a 3/8 ratchet, 3/8 to 1/4 adapter, 1/4 to 3/8 adapter, deep 3/8 drive to ONE of the bolts. Why all of that? To obtain the sweet spot length to squeeze between the truck frame and manifold.

Fuck. I many end up sending this out to the pros.

Sounds like an Alfa. Exhaust manifolds are twatsicles because the heat plays hob with anything attached to them.

On a related note, the 36mm shallow socket I bought off Amazon to do the oil filter on the Range Rover turned out to be 32mm when I went to do it yesterday. Another job on hold.

Fucken cars.

My LS1 has a ping. Spoke to my mechanic. It's fine to drive, but over time it could fuck the engine.

Could be injectors, could be 02 sensors, could be carbon on the pistons, could be all of the above. Sigh.

The difference between you and I? where oh where to begin...

I think "she" has you confused with Raindancer.

Channel Locks and be done with it.

That sucks. Not sure what your driving style is but maybe it needs to be driven like a rental car.

The Society of Professional Journalists’ Code of Ethics clearly states,

first and foremost:

“Ethical journalism should be accurate and fair. Journalists should be honest and courageous in gathering, reporting and interpreting information.”

And specifically directs journalists to:

Label advocacy and commentary

So, what is one to conclude when one sees this?:

Can't get at it with 'em. It's a socket on the end of a 12" extension bar or fuck all.

Thrashed to death and flashing people to get out of the way with the windscreen wipers?

Pedal to the floor while updating the facebook profile.

This is the first October tropical storm that didn't warm me! I'm freezing. But, I refuse to turn on the heat.

It could just be poor quality fuel in the tank.
