She was the holdover US Ambassador to Ukraine from the Obama administration before Trump recalled her last May. There're allegations against her from the Trump partisan side and dismissal of those same allegations by her and other anti-Trumpers. What's uncontested is that she's well on record as decrying Trump's foreign policy, and made very clear in her canned deposition released by her own lawyers from last weeks' closed to the public and press House panel testimony that the Foreign Service/State Department has been so damaged by Trump that if something isn't done about it, those agencies will be ruined in the eyes of the world forever.

The President of the United States of America has sole constitutional charge of steering ALL US foreign policy. Don't like that policy? Find some integrity and quit working under it. The big difference between the Nixon impeachment inquiry and this one is the cult behavior that has been conditioned into the Republican Party since the Nixon years.

When cult behavior is gradually adopted by a major political movement, it can graduate to being a mass psychosis. Each time this occurs in history, it will be a little bit different from the prior occurrences, but the basic elements always seem to include an arrogant cult leader, the daily issuance of narratives and talking points, the enforcement of loyalty oaths, the punishments for leaving the cult, mass rallies that emphasize us against them, constant statements of grandeur accompanied by statements of persecution, and the quashing of dissent within any propaganda arm.

Frankly, I don't expect conviction in the Senate because of these elements, but I still think it is important for the House to impeach.
