No, but it's a start. Of course, since you read the rest of my post, you know that's not even all I listed here (and this was all just from memory). Also, Al Gore Sr didn't vote for the MLK holiday because he'd been out of office for twelve years at the time. Gore Jr was in the House at the time and I haven't looked it up, but I'm pretty sure he voted for the holiday. (Dick Cheney was also in the House, and voted against it, by the way.)

That's so easy to debunk I'm not even going to bother. Just off the top of my head, usually-red Ohio has been losing seats regularly for decades. Pennsylvania, which you are ever so certain is going to vote for Trump again, always loses a seat or two. West Virginia had four House seats in the '80s, three now, and might end up with two after next year. Washington, Colorado and California are a few examples of blue states that have gained seats in the past few censuses. As for "The south today is solidly Republican! I don't even know the last time Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas or South Carolina gained a seat - it may very well not even be in either of our lifetimes. The only solid red state that usually gains seats that I can think of offhand is Utah, and that's simply because Mormons tend to have lots of children.

First of all, they're two different issues. Secondly, most right-wing Southern Dems were also anti-choice. Yes, Byrd was an exception - but he was also a dependable supporter of civil rights by the time the abortion issue heated up in the '70s.

Yes, former U.S. Senator Robert Byrd (D-WV) voted against the Supreme Court confirmation of Clarence Thomas in 1991, just as he also voted against the Supreme Court confirmation of Thurgood Marshall in 1967. (Thomas succeeded Thurgood Marshall and is the second African-American to serve on the Court.)

Senator Byrd, who was ALSO a former "Exalted Cyclops" in the Ku Kux Klan, argued that both Clarence Thomas AND Thurgood Marshall were woefully unqualified to serve on our nation's highest court, but in BOTH cases he was out-voted by the rest of the U.S. Senate. Why YOU side with Senator Byrd is beyond me!

President Obama didn't nominate ANY black Supreme Court judges, probably so as to keep Senator Bryd happy. In 2009, the senator voted to pass the president's signature legislation (ObamaCare), pleasing Obama so much that the following year he delivered the eulogy at Byrd's funeral! TRUE STORY!
