Kik closing down their app!?!

Kik announced yesterday it will be discontinuing it’s messenger app, and gave no date for the closure.
This news makes me sad as Kik is my favorite way to rp.
What’s everyone’s alternate?
Pros and cons? I don’t want anything that will tie to my real life.

Same situation it was easy to install and uninstall and share pictures ad well ad IM

I use the chat app called Line. Very similar, if not better, than Kik in my opinion. I do enjoy kik though! I will be sad to see it go

I am sure a year or two ago they announced they were shutting down groups too and that didn’t seem to materialise so be interesting to if they do but I mean whilst Skype exists it’s not the end of the world is it?

I haven't had a response on kik at all today, I'm guessing it's down already.

I think Telegram is a good option. No requirement to share your phone number compared to Whatsapp/Signal.

I did the same thing and was disappointed. There is Wickr Me and gmail/hangouts, which dont need a number
