Wanted to answer this, thought it looks like you have found your solution. I like the links (option 1), because while it does open in another window, if that image is actually bigger you can open it to full size. However, which ever way suits you, I am perfectly fine with.

I think I might try combining few things: smaller image as a quote, i.e. visible, but will not carry to the comments, plus a link to a bigger version, in case anybody wants it. Given that things look very different on the phones and on full screens, it's hard to find one format that works for everybody.

Was shooting something yesterday and, like most of my selfies, it involved a lot of takes. Tape phone to something as high as possible, set timer for 10 sec, fall down, check that I am more or less in the right spot, wait for timer to go off, get up, check the result, repeat. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. (If nothing else, it counts as a workout.)

On one of iterations the camera went off when I was trying to check if I finally got what I wanted. I did not, but the accidental shot looked fun enough in itself:
