Long time pending?

Hello! New-ish writer here. I submitted my fourth story about a week ago, and it’s still stuck on pending. My other stories went through in a max of 4 days, and I’m wondering if a longer wait is normal? My apologies if this thread has been done before. Thanks!

Patience, grasshopper. The release rate often slows at this time of year. Laurel deserves mint juleps on the veranda like the rest of America .

Yes, delayed posting occurs when themed contests are running. And the summer holiday contest just wrapped up.

I sent a note in last night and my edit was published and one of my two stories, the second being Part 2, which I wouldn't want published too soon anyway. The posting of the new story was at about 5pm EDT, not the normal midnight drop.

So it was taken care of.
