I've only had one story written before and the editing was awful. Even after I published it I found a new problem with the story every time I reread it. I knew the next time I published I needed an editor.

I am finally ready to publish again, and made a request for a volunteer editor for the writer's resources. I got no response from my first request and am waiting for a response for the next one.

Any1 have tips and tricks to get a speedy response. Any1 have success or horror stories with the experience?

What is your story about? What's the genre? How long is it?

What is your story about?

A man trying to answer the dreaded question? "Do you love me?" In a well established relationship.

Not sure how to categorize it really. It's got a punchline, but is obviously more about the erotica than the joke.

Not long at all. 3 pages in word.

That's not very long at all - it needs to be at least 750 words, unless it's poetry. You might want to check your word count.

Depends on your spacing and font size. I checked my last one and I had about 450 words on the first page, so 3 pages should be long enough. But still, maybe a bit short for a submission here in general anyway.

Anyway, I've heard multiple people complaining about trying to get an editor through the writer's resources. I'd just recommend looking for one on the forums instead, that seems to be easier. I'm not even registered as an official editor using the program, I just take stuff from the forums.

1877 words. Still adding and editing myself while I'm waiting. I have a kind of muse friend that gives my criticism, and I'm pretty sure it's going in the erotic coupling category, even with the romantic and humor components of it all. I know it's a crowded category, but it's better than mis categorizing it.

UPDATE: Contacted my third volunteer editor this morning. If anyone can help out let me know.

If you don't hear back from them either, shoot me a message. Your story is really short, I should be able to fit that into my schedule. That said, I'd like to know a few more things beforehand, like the category it'll be posted in, and what the story is about in a sentence or two.

The only useful wordage stat is the one computed on the file by the computer. Pages of anything are two easily manipulated.
