they were bloody delicious and so meaty we only ate a couple each at the time, along with the potato salad etc.... tender, barbeque-y, smokey, *dibbles...*

shrimp and cucumber sounds wonderfully summery. we've about17lbs of shrimp left in the freezer from our trip down to the gulf; gumbo will be on the menu come the colder weather

my eyes are just about falling out looking for a painting that was in the bedroom where i stayed down in the gulf... a young, peasant girl, barefoot, with geese. felt kind of religious.

the reason for it is because i wanted to post it here and ask others if they felt something was wrong with it. can't remember the artist but it felt sort of renaissance, maybe.

annnyway, looking at it, it just felt strange: each individual piece was beautifully painted, the head/features, the limbs, hands, feet, but put together something's amiss. the feet, though beautifully executed, seemed a little too long, a little more manly (like any feet you might see in those old religious-type paintings); the head a touch too small for the rest of the body; the perfect arms and hands not quite matching the size/age suggested by the feet. like different people painted it

well i'll be buggered sideways: just saw samwise gamgee (sean astin) as the new colonel sanders character in the ads. seems he played mikey in the goonies. i'm usually pretty good at spotting a face as a child or now as an adult, but that one passed right over my head!
