Second, are you implying fuck buddies are 3 ways?

To me, fuck buddy is someone you don’t have a relationship with outside of sex. It’s not a one night stand. Maaaaybe you get a drink first. But it is a sexual relationship without strings attached.

FWB is a friend you hook up with. Downside is when you (or them) want to focus on a real relationship because someone ultimately gets hurt. FWB starts with a foundation which, IME, more often than not ends up with someone hurt and the ending of a friendship. Hence why fuck buddies can be preferable to those of us that don’t want to lose friends.

I like this!!! Very well written Avery. I also completely agree that the FWB thing can derail itself. In a lot of ways a FWB is going to be or end up being a relationship regardless of original intentions. Or at least that's my thoughts.

There’s no insurance with matters of the heart, either.

I would say FWB is the safest. You don’t have to take the ultimate leap to be vulnerable like you do with love, but you still have comfort and trust you may not get with a FB.

Either one can work depending on the person's involved. I prefer FWB but I feel ground rules need to be set. FB if all you want to do is fuck and leave right after. But in the end no matter how you do it, you can develop feels/emotions/attachment to that other person. Unless you are one that can turn off your feelings completely.

Yes but a prostitute is a sex worker - sorry I didn’t get the analogy.

I don’t do fuck buddies any more so I haven’t given it much thought. And I don’t think fuck buddies have a bond - once they do, it’s a relationship.
