This is my first time on a train and I'm looking forward to the adventure. I can't believe the crowds of people swirling about us as they make their way to various platforms. Announcements are given regularly...and loudly... so they are heard above the din of people's conversations. We're next!

As dusk fades we mill about the passenger cabin, looking for our seats, figuring out where to stow our carry-ons. I see a few people from the check-in line, and as I don’t know anyone on this trip, you are the closest thing I have to friends.

All passengers are lined up to get on board now. We are next. The station master is blowing the whistle and the train is about to leave the station.

Is a mighty good line. First train song that came to mind. Nicest trip was under the alps, Venice to Vienna, 12 hours in a sleeper car, overnite.

I like this idea.

I suggest adding a note of realism, following kentuckymtnman's suggestion and working with it being the Rail Canada Halifax-Vancouver train. I'll try to track down the actual itinerary for that.

And maybe for some ground rules, ongoing posters can name a station stop (in order, please!) whenever it seems suitable, whether for leaving the train or just because time would have passed. Then new posters should start their part of the story with boarding the train at whatever the last station stop was.

Hmm ... Not as easy as I thought

Apparently to get from Halifax to Vancouver you have to change trains in Montreal and then again in Toronto.
