The incompetent White House trade advisor said this on CNN early this morning:

"This President has the backs of farmers," Navarro told CNN's Jake Tapper on "State of the Union." He said "a lot" of the money the US is taking in from tariffs is "going right to the farmers."

Meanwhile, farmers are saying this about all that money:

Gary Wertish, the president of the Minnesota Farmers Union, recently told CNN, "Words and twitters and tweets -- that doesn't pay the farmers' bills. That doesn't solve the problem we're dealing with."

"This one's self-inflicted by our President, and we definitely agreed with him at the beginning, but it doesn't appear that there's a plan B," Wertish said.

Despite the continuing remarks from farm organizations about how much the tariffs are devastating farmers, particularly those in the Midwest, the buffoonish trade advisor stood firm:

Navarro was adamant on "State of the Union" Sunday, telling Tapper that farmers "are behind this President." And Navarro insisted the tariffs are "not hurting anybody" in the US -- "They're hurting China," he said.

Which is an interesting statement since China has been increasing its own soybean production and is now importing the same from countries such as Argentina who are more than happy to provide the product and the increase in jobs and money it brings.

Wasn't it posted not too long ago that most of the moolah was going to city based farming corporations rather than the rural 'real' farms?

Who did most of these folks vote for, knowing before they voted that he was a lying, unethical, immoral, city slicker degenerate?

Vs the Democrats who want to regulate them and their livelihoods out of existence??

I think the left is a bit delusional if American farmers are just going to give it all up for the collective.

^^^^^^ this!
They hated Hilary Clinton so much that they were prepared to throw their future into trumps hands without thinking it through. That's what happens when you're motivated by hate. They deserve everything they get.

They deserve everything they get.

As individuals, they do, yes (and this includes most on my maternal extended family side), but growing a healthy food supply and getting it to the table to the mutual benefit of all is an issue that needs resolved whether or not the farmers were being stupid. Trump and his "best people" certainly aren't the people to resolve it, though.

They were so worried about not electing a liberal from New York, they elected a failure from New York.

Wow. You really think liberals just sit around and dream up regulations just to make life difficult for business people, don't you? Geez.

Well, to be a Trumpette in the first place, you can't be too bright.

Liberals no....liberals seek to preserve and enhance individual liberty.

Leftist yes. They are more than happy to use government authority to create more equitable outcomes for all.

Very very few Democrats are liberal anymore, most are leftist.

And of course you have some very specific examples of Democrats promoting onerous regulations aimed at driving farmers out of business. Something as targeted as stiff tariffs on their crops if you don’t mind.

“Farmers reeling from President Donald Trump’s trade war with China suffered a new blow last week when his administration exempted dozens of oil refineries from requirements to use biofuels. The decision reduces demand for corn-based ethanol, slicing even deeper into farmers’ tanking incomes.”

Oh, lookie here.:D

Seems pretty clear that Donny has been seeking to widen the economic class divide; make the rich richer and the poor poorer. Enslave the poor to the rich, then cut support systems.

There was a headline over the weekend with Donny proclaiming the economy is fine and 'our consumers are rich' or some such drivel.

12 senators and 90 Reps including the author of the "New Green Deal" AOC, supported exactly that.....animal farts and the use of petroleum products must be stopped!!!

https://www.atr.org/here-s-every-democrat-who-supports-ocasio-cortez-s-crazy-green-new-deal

What do you think happens to the modern farmer/agricultural industry after livestock and every piece of machinery from tractors and trucks to horse and buggy is prohibited to stop global warming???

Not much farming going on without diesel and animal farts.

City/Suburban AOC fans will get miiiiighty hungry if they had their way.

Good, no need to waste diesel to make corn juice just to keep some farmers afloat because they couldn't evolve with the times.

Corn squeezin's belong in Granny's Jug, not gasoline. It's been causing an awful lot of mechanical damage to carburetors and fuel systems in small engines, costing users a lot of money in repairs.

You should check with farmers to see whether the Green New Deal is hurting them like the tariffs are right now.

And this, from Electrek website:

“At Electrek, we firmly believe that all forms of ground transport will start to transition to electric propulsion relatively soon. That includes large tractors for agriculture, as demonstrated by John Deere’s latest all-electric tractor concept.

While the company dabbled in alternative fuel sources for its full-size agricultural tractors in the past, including a hybrid electric version, this concept called SESAM (Sustainable Energy Supply for Agricultural Machinery) is the first fully powered by a battery pack.

John Deere expects that the electric motors will require much less maintenance than a diesel engine. They will also provide redundancy and last longer.”

It appears that John Deere had the idea before AOC.

Nice goalpost move/deflection combo.

But that still doesn't change the fact that the tariffs are trivial compared to what the leftist faction of the Democrats want to do.

It appears that John Deere had the idea before AOC.

No, John Deere is offering a better product for a voluntary exchange.

AOC is promoting the total restructuring, and without any real plans arguably the destruction of our agricultural industry under direct threat of violence by the government.

Of course like a good comrade you're trying to conflate the two, you've got to church up that authoritarian control as no different than free exchange.

Tell us more about how you're totally a capitalist while supporting openly socialist (D)'s and their eco-communist policy stances.

Do you also want ICE/CBP/DHS abolished and undocumented entry into the USA decriminalized because border security and immigration control are racist Nazi bullshit but claim not to be in support of open borders??

It would be super "progressive" if you did. :D

Except I never said I supported AOC or her new deal. I also don’t support a stupid trade war that is literally closing markets to farmers that may be lost for years if not forever. As to your other stupid questions, they’re stupid.

Then why so defensive of the anti-American socialist and her eco-communist policy in this post??

You should check with farmers to see whether the Green New Deal is hurting them like the tariffs are right now.

Why would you defend AOC and the NGD by trying to conflate the totalitarian communism she's proposing with free market innovation??

Freedom loving liberal capitalist don't defend communism and the open air card carrying socialist promoting it in congress.

I also don’t support a stupid trade war that is literally closing markets to farmers that may be lost for years if not forever.

Me either, but I do support getting rid of artificially created by "regulation" markets like the not very green corn based bio fuel that just sucks all around.

As to your other stupid questions, they’re stupid.

Uh hua.....:D
