Over recent times, virtually ever since the last Presidential Election result, the Politics Board here has been dominated by a small, less-than-handful of people whose rabid perspectives have succeeded in keeping people with valid differing opinions and views away. And this is symptomatic of what is happening in Dem land out in the rest of the real world: they are louder than ever, and fewer than before.

But it doesn't worry them that this means that without inside people pushing down hard on the levers of voting machines, they will certainly lose bigly the next time.

And to that extent they really are very VERY stupid indeed.

I come from a background deep inside a successful political Left, but for most of my life I have been quite active in private business - there are just as many insane myopic characters on the Right out there! But what we see today can hardly be called the actual political Left as it once was: a ideological position that was broad and not tied to 'thought police,' not tied to irrational out-dated religious modes and institutions, deeply averse to privilege and corruption, respectful of tested science not science as propaganda, truly welfare concerned, proactive to find social justice solutions, caring. And which valued government for its positive power to achieve widespread community good and not its coercive powers.

These things are frankly more evident in many parts of today's Right, both in the United States and in the UK and a few other places, than in the Left.

But, my own personal view is that modern politics is broken, damaged, and will not make any kind of 'come-back' before some major changes in social mindset take shape somehow.

It is virtually -, protect yourself, every man for himself for fundamental self-protection reasons, and watch out.

I agree with most of your commentary, however the trend is, if you disagree with the left you're a racist. They propagate white privilege and defined white nationalism as a fault to be despised and destroyed. America is the blame for the worlds problems and American nationalism is evil, borders are evil, walls are evil. The left is steeped in identity politics, virtue signalling while tolerating late term abortion and have appointed themselves the moral high ground and proclaim themselves as the administrator of social justice. The majority are agnostic or atheist and are determined to tear down the very christian principles our country was founded on. They want God to disappear from our culture and move into the secular culture, much like the EU. Their agenda is socialism disguising it as democratic socialism and promise everything is free. Our young do not understand what socialism is, frightening.

I'm not sure today is a day when pouring scorn is all that appropriate.

One long-term backer of the supposed modern political Left was found dead in his cell, when on suicide watch.

And it will not be the end of what is going on in these oh-so-elevated 'elite' levels I would not have supposed. Not just yet, anyway.

I mean I think it takes a 'brave' person to fly in the face of a lot of angry sentiment and 'events of a terminal nature' and put on the face of scorn as if that somehow undermines the basic point being put here.

Which is - are some people really STUPID??

Icanhelp1 - I am completely in tune with what you are saying here. For me the current use of the word 'socialism' is an American construction that really means 'Marxism/Communist totalitarianism' and not maybe what people like GB Shaw 'might' have meant. I don't know FOR CERTAIN what he meant but I don't believe he ever meant totalitarianism at all.

At its very heart, the core idea of Christianity is doing good and BEING good especially to your fellow man and woman. At it's core some atheists validly object to manipulative religious institutions that sponsor and spawn a lot of false ideas.

The two positions are equally 'righteous' and highly valid as viewpoints.

There is so much going on now that we are being prevented from seeing - things are NOT transparent, not being made transparent to the general public and I cannot trust the motives and motivations of those claiming to be 'on the Left' especially when they shove this 'racism' nonsense at people of good will.
