This is not a political thread.

"MANHATTAN (CN) – Revealing literary tastes befitting an accused sex trafficker, the Second Circuit offered a nauseating look Friday at Jeffrey Epstein’s Amazon purchases in a huge tranche of unsealed documents.

With titles like “SlaveCraft: Roadmaps for Erotic Servitude – Principles, Skills and Tools” and “Training With Miss Abernathy: A Workbook for Erotic Slaves and Their Owners,” the evidence appeared as part of a lawsuit by Virginia Giuffre against alleged Epstein accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell."

I've often wondered about some of the stories posted here and other places and if they would ever be tied to things like this in real life.

Whatever someone wants to feed on can be tied to it. That isn't an excuse.

Let's blame "penny dreadful" westerns for shootouts, too. But wait -- did Epstein have a LIT account? Maybe he's one of those Fetish authors.

Why the word "sickness" in the heading? The asshole wasn't ill, he was a predator, pure and simple.

Yeah but it's about lawyers posturing and trying to make excuses for their clients behaviour. It's someone else's fault.

Little doubt that there'll be another light sentence coming...

Which can be called a sickness since he's definitely a screwed up piece of filth, but trying to keep all that elsewhere.

Oh, I don't think so. That already happened and everyone sees the shit fanned onto the wall from that. I think the sentence will be pretty heavy if he doesn't conveniently die first. We're into a period of strong public reaction to light sentences to the privileged.

Which is why the lawyers will delay and obfuscate & appeal until years have passed. They'll postulate the horrors of porn addiction. They'll trot out a group of psychiatrists that will bring up every time mommy slapped his pee-pee until...he's just a poor, addicted, misguided object worthy of our forgiveness.

The public has a short memory and I have little doubt he has a PR team already trying to polish his image.

Maybe I'm just cynical but I don't think he'll get much as in 3 years or less.

So, back to the literature aspect, has anybody read any of the titles mentioned?

See also this story from a few months back: https://extra.ie/2019/05/05/news/irish-news/murderer-pat-quirke-literary-erotica

As far as I can tell, Quirke was reading LW stories around the time he murdered his ex's boyfriend. That evidence wasn't presented in trial but it looks as if the prosecution's intended angle was more "this shows his state of mind" than "porn made him do it".

Because blaming "mental illness" is a popular cop-out with people who don't want to talk about other reasons why certain things happen. Usually they're the same people who take zero interest in supporting mental health services for people who actually do have mental illnesses.

Exactly. Blame mental illness or declare that anyone who does a certain kind of thing is mentally ill. Then conveniently forget people who have actual mental illnesses. Or the additional problems they run into because people keep blamig "mental illness" for all kinds of dastardly things done by people who were perfectly, raionally, aware of what they were doing.

Me: Ill.
You: Demented, dangerous.

Whew. Glad that's cleared up.

You're a sick ticket, Hypoxia :).

It's a bit like the ancient gag from way back when: "My mother made me a homosexual."

"If I buy her the wool, will she make me one, too?"

Carry on ;).

Very good OP here, because it links to some actual informative reports which specify titles of books pertaining to various areas some of us write about.

Some of the news coverage is angling towards the line that Epstein influenced people through blackmail and that is why they gave him money ('to invest').

But those of you who are genuinely interested in following investigative journalists who are dealing with those parts of the story which have been allowed to be in the public sphere at all, should hunt around to find the underlying factual reality about Jeffrey Epstein.

And you will discover the kinds of projects (not the 'trans-humanism' over-sold hype by the syndicated bloc media) that Jeffrey Epstein got money from the US government for. And that he is directly linked to sensitive government 'social control' projects in the UK.

In time, it will be - not a question of Epstein 'going down' or going down alone versus taking others with him - but a question of what the government will disclose to the public about their own involvement with Epstein and who he worked for and at what levels. And doing what.

Ahem.

I'm not normally a conspiracy kind of guy but this is a little too convenient. Stops the investigation in it's tracks.

Makes me wonder if there are a lot of other "rich sick fucks" involved and offed him before he threw them to the wolves
