- In the past 6 months, Lit has had 56 million worldwide views.

- 185th most popular website in America

- 63rd most popular porn site

- 49% of the audience is from America, then Germany, then UK and Canada. On another list I saw that India was pretty high, which makes a lot of sense because a lot of Indian readers really love incest mom/son stories.

- 62% come to the site directly.

- 33% come to this site through searches (literotica 47% of the time, sex stories, erotic stories)

- Average visit is 16 minutes.

Sixteen minutes huh?. That's a snack with coffee, not long. And eight pages the average views? Figure out how many pages one could read in sixteen minutes (certainly not eight) and there's an indicator of the number of back-clicks going on. Somebody, do the maths!

It would be interesting to know what the top twenty "most popular porn sites" are.

It is in the link. About 2/3 down under Competitors & Similar Sites. Or you can look at theporndude.com

What I find inexplicable is the "Top 5 Paid keywords" for literotica referrals. number 1 was "light bulb type b10 base e12, 40 watt (370 lumens led)" WTF?

Hey, no dissing light bulbs, they've got as much right to read illuminating smut as the next domestic fitting. A screw or a bayonet socket - maybe that's the confusion?

Per that site, 99.99% of Literotica visits are organic and only 0.01% are paid referrals. (See here for discussion of those terms - basically, paid referrals are when you pay Google or whoever to run ads for your business.)

Does Literotica even pay to advertise? I don't recall ever seeing them show up on Google searches etc.

My best guess on what's going on here: sleazy web sites often try to catch eyeballs by promoting popular search terms. Lots of people are looking for light bulbs and lots of people are looking for porn. Probably some shady website is using both "literotica" and "light bulbs" in an attempt to draw traffic, and somehow a portion of that traffic is being registered as visits to Literotica.

It's even possible that somebody screwed up and put Literotica's URL instead of their own when signing up for the ad. The small number means it could just be one snafu somewhere.

Very interesting stuff. Thanks for posting.

This and Bram’s menu referral are the coolest things in the AH this week, I think.

Maybe Lit's toy store sells specialty light bulbs.

16 minute visit time might sound short, but it is actually geologically long for a website, given that it that's an average.

The whole internet average for page view lengths is far less than a minute.

All those 'facts'. Yawn. Nothing about numbers of felons, vegans, pervs, stealth dogs, software and/or sanitation engineers, atheists, orthodontists, or priests -- y'know, the important stuff. And how many can make a good lasagne?

Aw, just look at all the folks who've ever favorited me. That's where you'll find your weirdos.

I was just looking through the stats and noticed something weird. Of the "social" referrals, over half of them are from Youtube. True, social is only 2.22% of the site's traffic, but that number is way bigger than the percentage from facebook and reddit, the second and third place. I'm a bit confused about that. Are there so many people including links to this site in their youtube videos? I know there's channels that review books, but... it's hard to picture someone reviewing stories on here on youtube, which is about the only way I can think of youtube generating links to literotica.

That does seem weird, but there was an account I saw a while ago (a year or more) where someone basically made youtube videos of Literotica stories.

Basically the words would scroll down the screen, or show them one page at a time or something.

A few of my stories were posted on that account. I don't recall if I got credit or not. And I dont recall if there were links to literotica.

I just did a quick check. There are tons of options on youtube if you search "literotica" The literotica story videos have thousands of views.

Interesting... Guess it's allowed on Youtube because it's not visual sexual content. Kind of crappy if someone were to just grab stories from here, narrate them and make money off the ads though. Especially without credit, but even if they do give credit it's still not something I'd be too stoked about.

I'd like to see a filmmaker take stories off here and make videos of them--with the cooperation of the author, of course.

Wasn't there some dude who posted here maybe six months ago seeking that sort of collaboration?

Really interesting, thanks. One of the things I love about Lit is that my stories here get exponentially more views than do the articles I write for work.:D

It's kind of strange to think that just one of my mom-son incest stories has affected far more people, if perhaps in just a very small way, than all the other things I've done in my life put together.

I've never thought about it like that before.

I guess that's why I (and you and others) work so hard at it.
