He's petty, vicious, bitter and vindictive. He's also highly manipulative, malicious and cannot be trusted with confidences. As a generally amiable fellow, it took time to eventually comprehend that his constant repetition of an athletic incident wasn't good-natured ribbing— it was a deliberate effort to hide his own athletic inadequacies by tearing me down.

It took me a while to comprehend that he's actually a quite nasty person and a textbook narcissist.

Growing up in the shadow of his rich, once bankrupt, half-Jewish grandfather who lived next door had a profound effect. The emasculation of his father and a mother of whom it was widely said, "She wears the pants in that family" were elements that warped his personality. His grandfather's money (of which he unabashedly boasted) enabled him to get away with a lot of things. Schools allowed him to slide by notwithstanding his now self-admitted dyslexia and innumeracy.

He's finally realized that, in keeping with the admonition contained in "Desiderata" ("...Avoid loud and aggressive persons; they are vexatious to the spirit..."), I consciously avoid him.

I don't like him.

Rules For Living

- Don't believe anything you read/hear on the Internet
- Don't believe anything you read/hear on television or the radio
- Don't believe anything you read in a newspaper
- Believe half of what you read in books
- Schoolteachers know about mathematics, physics, biology, chemistry, French, English, Spanish, Latin, engineering. Very few of them know anything about making a living, economics, investing or politics.
- Much of life is a cosmic joke being played on you by an uncaring universe.

Satchel Paige's Rules For Right Living

  • Avoid fried foods which angry up the blood.
  • If your stomach disputes you, lie down and pacify it with cooling thoughts.
  • Keep the juices flowing by jangling around gently as you move.
  • Go very lightly on the vices such as carrying on in society- the social ramble ain't restful.
  • Avoid running at all times.
  • Don't look back. Somethin' might be gaining on you.

-Leroy Robert "Satchel" Paige ( 1906-1982 )

Lit’s least likely Libertarian, AJ, will be along shortly to claim it should be 4est_Gary Johnson, for proper parody.

I see the Blurt's still going..."notcastor"?

That must have caused a stir. Good on ya, whoever. But I want royalties.

Wow. A trysail post actually worth reading.

:p

I'm looking for a dual-bevel sliding compound miter saw.

There's a pergola that needs to be built.

Whacha got?

I didn't know they made mobile miter saws.....my intention was to mount in on a table in the shed and there she'd stay until used, so I've been thinking corded all the way. I'd want one with a dustbag attachment, so that would take care of most of the dust.
