Kirstjen Nielsen, Secretary of Homeland Security, stepped up to the podium
when Sarah Huckabee-Sanders decided that the blood of immigrant children
on her fabulous shoes, and on the hem of her haute couture dress, was not
acceptable.

Denying that separating children from their families is a Trump policy.

CNN reported that Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders didn’t
want to do the briefing alone, and was waiting for Homeland Security
Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen to arrive and enter the room with her.

(The Washington Post later reported that the story was the result of
a leak by one of Sanders’s enemies in her ranks, designed to come out
when she was too busy to respond, forcing her to address it at the podium.)

The briefing was rescheduled for 5:00 p.m. Just before 5:15 p.m.,
Sanders and Nielsen, along with several aides, opened the sliding
door stage right from the podium.

Nielsen appeared agitated as she faced questions.
At one point, asked how the treatment of the children
separated from their parents wasn’t child abuse,
she impatiently responded, “Can you be more specific?”

“We have high standards,” Nielsen said. “We give them meals.
We give them education. We give them medical care. There’s videos,
TVs.”

(Border Patrol has nothing like that. A concrete floor, and a mat and mylar blanket
if you are lucky. Border Patrol keeps prisoners for months, and they keep people
in cages outdoors. A baby died in an unheated "Ice Cube." Food ? Nothing to eat
but a cold or frozen burrito, or rotting, moldy bolonga sandwich. Medical care ?
Only if they are nearly dead. Education ? If learning English is education.
That has stopped.)

Sec, Of HS Nielsen and Sarah Huckabee Sanders hopped out, because they feared all of the deaths would be made public.

Those deaths are still kept secret.

Yazmin Juárez embraced by @aoc after her powerful
testimony about conditions she says led to death
of her 19 month old daughter.

1:17 PM - 10 Jul 2019

Guatemalan woman whose infant daughter died after being held by US immigration authorities denounced the "cruelty" of the country's migrant detention centres on Wednesday.

Yazmin Juarez spoke out at "Kids in Cages: Inhumane Treatment at the Border", a congressional hearing staged amid a series of scandals over poor conditions suffered by detained migrants that has rocked Washington.

"If today I can make a change, if I can make a difference by telling you what is happening with the ICE detentions, the cruelty... it is extremely unfair," a tearful Juarez told reporters before the hearing, referring to US Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Juarez told the House Civil Rights and Civil Liberties subcommittee she fled to the United States last year with her 19-month-old Mariee "because I feared for our lives in Guatemala".

She crossed the border and claimed asylum but says she and Mariee were "locked in a freezing cold cage for a few days", then moved to an ICE detention centre, when her daughter became ill.

"I begged the doctors and medical staff to give her the care I knew she needed but they didn't," Juarez said.

"When ICE finally released us, I took Mariee to a doctor right away, to a doctor and then to the emergency room. But it was too late. Mariee never left the hospital," she said.

Representative Elijah Cummings, the chairperson of the House Committee on Oversight and Reform, denounced what he termed "government-sponsored child abuse on a grand scale".

"There must be greater accountability," said Representative Joaquin Castro, the chairperson of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus.

Castro called for a "long-term Marshall Plan for Central America", referring to massive US investment that helped Europe rebuild following World War II.

On Monday, UN human rights chief Michelle Bachelet said she was "deeply shocked" by conditions under which migrants and refugees are held at US detention centres.

The Department of Homeland Security's watchdog released a report last week that warned of "dangerous overcrowding" in multiple centres holding thousands of migrants seeking to remain in the United States.

Most are fleeing violence and poverty in Central America.

Yes, the whole inhumane treatment is purposeful. It's for deterrence against coming across the border to begin with. It's abhorrent and criminal (because counter to current law, both national and international), as is the Republicans in Congress's and the Trumpettes' here support for it. Depraved and disgusting policy and people. They all need to be locked up.

Bit of a contradiction there in your stupid post.

Shouldn't you be congratulating "the left" for enforcing the law, and not being cruel and inhumane?

It's. Enforcing. The. Law.

That's neither cruel, nor inhumane.

If you disagree...call your congresspeople and advocate for changing the law.

This situation is entirely the fault of the left. No question. If you think people deserve to be locked up....grab a mirror.

Obviously JC doesn't have a clue what the actual immigration laws are, both nationally and internationally. But then neither do the other Trumpettes or Trump himself. Clueless and lousing people, all of them, JC included.

Does nobody see this round up of immigrants as Trump's "Kristallnacht"? Hitler blamed the Jews for all the woes of Germany and the stupid Germans ready to blame someone other then themselves went along with it. Now we have a bunch of naïve greedy selfish Americans ready to believe that we need to blame someone else for our problems. Frankly, I'm sorry that I didn't know that I was eligible for Italian citizenship 30 years ago. Not that Italy is the best economy in the world but citizens of EU nations are free to live in any EU nation and most of my experiences with people in Europe is that they are much more progressive and open minded than the cowboys here.

Yeah, Obama just got rid of them behind the scenes. So Christian of you lefty lunes. LMFAO.

THEN GO THERE!

What are you trying to say? Do you think that the treatment was already bad at under Obama and is still bad now, or you are fine with people being held in cages? What is the Christian procedure, according to you?

I think lawmakers should have done their job many years ago and adjusted our laws accordingly and legislated a comprehensive immigration bill, and then adhere to it. We need legal migration, we don't need people subverting our laws.

Do you think that the treatment was already bad under Obama and is still bad now, or you are fine with people being held in cages? What is the Christian procedure, according to you?

I think the situation is dire, both under Obama and Trump. I believe people who come here, knowingly subverting our laws need to be detained. They understand the risk. It's a logistical problem with finite resources. Your moral equivalency question is a dishonest one. Just like you in your country, we are not obligated to take on all the world's poor. To continue down that path will eventually drains our resources and renders us incapable of helping anybody. Having compassion for people is not the same as letting yourself be destroyed for the sake of moral ambiguity. People are hurting because people in leadership roles have failed their responsibilities to the very people they pretend to care about. It should have never gotten this far out of hand. They are in a much better place now than in the desert, no one wishes them harm and yes I'm OK with them being in a detainment facility until legally processed. It's unfortunate that TDS was the primary catalyst for this crisis. AOC and her squad not voting for a bill to provide relief is a pretty obvious stunt, why don't you ask her if she's a good christian.

You two disgusting assholes aren't worth reading, let alone responding to.

Good! Didn't ask you to. You never add anything of value anyway! When the left is losing resort to calling names. TDS!! :caning:

We detain them, providing food, clothing, shelter and medical care. And if we didn’t detain them, what would happen? Would they leave?

Since they’ve been detained, has the crime rate dropped? Seems to me that crimes are being committed by US agents against them. Are the communities near the detention centers any safer than they were two years ago?

You ask a lot of questions, why don’t you answer some?

KeithD writes: "It's for deterrence against coming across the border to begin with. It's abhorrent and criminal..."

The modern Democratic Party wants to stop enforcing U.S. immigration laws.

The Democrats in the U.S. House & Senate helped PASS those laws, Democratic Party presidents (like Barack Obama) have ordered children detained & separated from their parents after illegally crossing our borders, and justices appointed to our U.S. Supreme Court by Democratic Party presidents have ruled those immigration laws constitutional!

But TODAY's liberal Democrats now call border enforcement "abhorrent and criminal" - which makes their party's position clear. They're saying that people who desperately want to come & live in Trump's America should be allowed to do so whether they cross our borders legally or illegally!

RubenR writes: "What is the Christian procedure, according to you?"

The pro-atheistic Democratic Party isn't at all interested in "Christian procedure," Ruben. Modern liberal Democrats ONLY respect those Christians who are BLACK (and vote Democrat), and that's ONLY if they remain quiet on issues like abortion & same-sex marriage.

phrodeau writes: "We detain them, providing food, clothing, shelter and medical care. And if we didn’t detain them, what would happen? Would they leave?"

The modern Democratic Party wants no walls or borders, phrodeau. They want illegals to be allowed in with no restrictions - given housing, food stamps, health care, & taxpayer-funded educations, and all they ask of them in return is for those newly-arrived illegals to register to vote (and then cast their votes for Democratic Party candidates!)

The Democratic Party has already lost the white blue collar vote in America, they're in the process of losing the black vote, and they desperately NEED illegals to do in states like Texas what they've already done in California. ALL of the Democratic Party's presidential candidates raised their hands when asked if taxpayers should fund the health care for illegals. That's all you really need to know!

Trump Tactic- Ignore court orders and break the law-Take children, even if a court order forbids it

Trump administration have separated at least 389 children from their migrant families since a federal court ordered the administration to stop the practice back in June 2018.

Trump administration has continued to steal hundreds of children from families at the southern border since a federal judge’s June 2018 court order. “More than 700 children were taken from their parents or, in a few cases, from other relatives between June 2018 and May 2019,” Houston Chronicle reports.

It is against the law to hold minors in concentration prisons past 72 hours.

Trump Tactic- Break the law, and lie about why the children are held

uly 12, 2019 3:07 PM

Border Patrol isn’t supposed to detain kids for longer than 72 hours, but the agency routinely violates this restriction, keeping some jailed for weeks at a time in awful conditions. Its excuse? Health and Human Services, where these kids are supposed to be sent after those maximum 72 hours, is full. But that’s not true, HHS is saying. "We received every child that was referred to us," HHS spokesperson Mark Weber told BuzzFeed News.

Border Patrol agent Aaron Hull lied to the public

The cruelty, as with so many of the Trump administration’s actions, is intentional.

“HHS said that while it was consistently running close to capacity for the past several months,” BuzzFeed News continued, “it was able to unify enough children with their parents or family members to have beds available.”

“The whole DHS premise of overcrowding in Border Patrol facilities was that ORR bed space was over-subscribed. Turns out to be another lie. Cruelty is the policy.”

(Child holding facilities denied that there was a lack of beds and space.)

Trump Tactic- Arrest pregnant women

ICE was already detaining pregnant people, but in a Trump administration memo last year, cleared the way to begin detaining even more. Miscarriages while in federal immigration custody then nearly doubled following this change.

Trump Tactic- Make false accusations, and deport parents and guardians

It was days away from a dealine to release children.
Trump team came up with another excuse to hold
children, and continue to separate parents from kids.

“Officials listed a parent’s gang membership or criminal history as the reason for separating 65 percent of about 400 children between the June 20 executive order and March 2019,” but the ACLU said officials have used incidents as minor as a traffic violation as an excuse to separate families. Some asylum-seekers have been falsely accused of gang ties, and kept separated from their kids for over 100 days.

This has been a blatant abuse of a court order, and the ACLU said it may take the federal government back to court over the issue. “In the last few months these types of separations have risen drastically,” said attorney Lee Gelernt. “The government is trying to drive a truck through what was supposed to be a very narrow exception.

Trump Tactic- Ignore the law, and break prohibition of arrests in Sanctuary cities

It is revealed that ICE is providing local police with a way to work around ‘sanctuary’ jurisdiction policies by allowing local authorities to make immigration arrests.57

Trump Tactic- Defy Congress

Congress told ICE to jail fewer people.

ICE responded by opening three new detention facilities.

Congress not only told Immigration and Customs Enforcement
to jail fewer people as part of a funding package last year, but
also rejected a subsequent request for more money for more detention.

Trump Tactic- Send Mike Pence to lie to Congress

House Speaker Pelosi spoke for just under an hour with Vice President
Mike Pence, who assured her that the administration could implement
some safeguards for children in emergency shelters that have not met
certain licensing requirements.

A source familiar with the negotiations said Pelosi secured from Pence
a promise to use administrative direction to accomplish two of the
House goals: that members would be notified within 24 hours of the
death of a child in U.S. custody, and that a 90-day time limit would
be put on children spending time in the temporary housing centers
known as “influx facilities.”

“DHS and ICE are flagrantly violating Congressional orders,
just as we said they would,” tweeted Rep. Alexandria
Ocasio-Cortez of New York.

“There were no mats or pillows — some of the men were sleeping on concrete,” he said. “The stench was horrendous.”

He described the weather as “sweltering hot.”

The men in the cages began shouting at the press when they came by, saying that they’ve been kept there for 40 days or longer.

Reporter John Dawsey of the Washington Post, said they appeared dirty.

Dawsey said that Pence tried to avoid the question multiple times

the use of hotels to aid in the situation at the border, Marriott has made

"I was only following orders."

After a tour of a Texas Border Patrol station where hundreds of migrant
men were seen tightly caged on a concrete floor without beds, Vice President
Mike Pence shook off pointed questions by CNN reporter Pamela Brown
about some of the miserable conditions at border detention facilities:

“I can’t account for that.”

During a one-on-one interview with CNN’s Brown after the tour, Pence repeatedly tried to minimize or redirect questions about the overcrowding and unsanitary conditions along the border, which have been corroborated by a recent DHS Inspector General’s report, while implicating Democrats in not sufficiently funding border operations.

At one point, Brown pulled out an image taken in May that was included in the DHS IG report, which showed dozens of children housed in overcrowded, squalid conditions.

“Look at it like this. When you look at that, what do you see?” Brown pressed, pushing the photo toward Pence.

“I can’t account for that. What I can account for is the facility…” Pence began, before Brown cut in.

“How do you not account for this?”

Dodging again, the vice president pivoted to talking about one of the detention centers he toured that day.

Mike Pence did not get the propaganda he had hoped for, at the
2 concentration prsions he visited. But, he is out in the public
telling lies and deflecting. Is that Trump policy, too ?

Notice that Mike pence did not visit a concentration prison for children.
(Do not bother denying them, because proof came this week that the
children are living in overcrowded conditions.)

The first center he visited, while not homey or comfortable, was
only two months old, cleaner and allowed Pence to paint a rosier
picture of the treatment of migrants held in federal custody.
But it was much harder for Pence to deny what he'd seen at
the second facility, and he instead described the conditions
as the result of the migrant border crisis the administration
has been has been warning about for months.

but at this point, with five kids that have died, 5,000 separated from
their families, I feel like — and the evidence is really clear —
that this is intentional. It's intentional. It's a policy choice being
made on purpose by this administration, and it’s cruel and inhumane."

Trump Temp, acting Homeland Security Secretary Kevin McAleenan
implies that Democrats and critical Republicans are exaggerating,
despite testimony from many politicians that visited the concentration
prsions.

He lied.
