Offering commissions - where/how?

I feel a bit daft writing this one (sorry guys!) but I was wondering if there was anywhere suitable on the forums to put that I offer commission work? I normally take it through other websites and am doing well via those avenues but there's no harm in popping it up in more locations so that interested people can get in touch.

I have put it on my profile with the rates and the usual bits and bobs there and I'm aware that you can't advertise commissions or that a story is a commission story in the story text itself. Is there a suitable forum that I'm missing for this or anywhere else that I could make people aware, if they fancy it?

Thanks in advance and sorry if I'm being a bit daft! :)

I'd think it should be fine to mention at the top of your story it was commissioned by someone. As far as I'm aware the rules are just for advertising, which this isn't doing. It's just crediting the one who gave you the original idea, that they paid you to write it shouldn't matter.

Of course I'm not an authority on the rules or anything, but I wouldn't think just mentioning it's a commission would fall under the no advertising guidline. You could always PM Laurel if you're not sure about it, or just try and see if it gets your story rejected because of it.

Hey there!

Apologies - it's not as I gave that a gander and the stories were rejected so I had to delete that little snippet of text and re-submit. Then all was good! Normally, on other sites, I'd put, "Commissioned by Cheeky Fox", or something like that. It's a bind but I understand that that's just the rules. :)

You might want to pop something in the Story Ideas forum. The Authors Hangout is mostly other writers, and I doubt you'll find many takers here. Folk do wander by from time to time looking for writers, though, so you might get lucky.

Try the Story Ideas. Or post a story and in your profile say that you accept commisions.

Hey! Thanks, I'm not looking to pick up work from here with this thread, just trying to see where it is allowed/okay to post (if at all) that I take on custom work. Apologies if I came off like that. :)

Is it okay to post a thread for that in Story Ideas? It didn't seem like quite the right place as people were proposing ideas and the like there but I did see some threads with "writer wanted" too.

I think what you said about posting stories and then putting in my profile is what I've already done though, but I apologise if I've gotten the wrong end of the stick there!

The indication is that Literotica will not support any activity that doesn't lead to publication on Literotica. You probably need to keep that clear.

It looks like you've already done about everything possible. You've posted 316 stories and have an extensive profile describing your business. Perhaps, putting a link in your signature to direct folks from the Forum to your stuff might bring a few more eyes...but only if you spend more time posting comments so people can see your links. But, in the big picture, the numbers of participants on the Forum are pretty insignificant in comparison to overall participation on Lit as a story site. (I would venture a guess than a small percentage ever even look at the Forum)

That last is important - I've been reading Literotica for nearly 20 years. And I even checked out the Forum from time to time. But it took a decision to, finally, post the stories from my old archive to get me to actually set up an account and start participating.

At a guess, the proportion of those who read the Forums to the total readership is at best no higher that the proportion of readers who bother to vote on a story - and may be lower than the proportion of readers who send comments.
