Add Canada to the growing number of countries that are banning plastic. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said the country will ban single-use plastic items by 2021. So, that means no more plastic bags, straws, cutlery or stirring sticks. The United Kingdom plans to ban such plastics next year, and the European Parliament has passed its own single-use plastics ban.
good. we don't need them and plastic has got into everything, the water, the food-chain, people... i really don't like eating and drinking out of plastic and styrofoam; give me glass and china any day. plastic tastes like chemicals.

So your personal preferences are all that are necessary for everyone to be required to do likewise?

Thats good, we really should develop an alternative, so what do you propose we use.

It's almost like well why do people try so hard to live if they're just going to die in the end anyway, so you might as well stop trying to live.

Obvious deflection.'

'Tell us why you believe that merely changing the label will prevent people from putting plastic bags into the garbage after 1 use.

Perhaps if someone printed "multi-use plastic bag" on the bag that'll work... oh wait...

Canada bans plastic condoms because = bad.
Abortions skyrocket but it's ok. Murder = good.

Libturd Logic™

Non-plastics and multi-use plastics would be a good start, I reckon.

I mean, since "single-use" is the operating term here.

Hey, I'm all for the ban, but what NON PLASTICS would you suggest gets used.

Without a solution its just more vote pandering by trudope.

Same as his carbon tax that comes back to everybody as a tax credit cheque instead of investing the money into reasearch

One more thing that the right wing says there is nothing we can do, so let us do nothing...they really have become the do nothing party haven't they?

I didn't say do nothing, I said put your money where your mouth is and develop something

We're drowning in plastic. They estimate we ingest some 60,000-70,000 pieces of plastic annually. More if you drink water from plastic bottles.

This isn't an if situation. It's a when. We cannot keep profligately using and dumping plastics.

You do realize that EVERY "Hefty trash bag" is single use, right?

As is every disposable diaper.

As is... well hopefully you get the point.

How did you learn to do things? From birth to right now?

Did you learn? Or did you just download what you know about living from the Cloud and called it a day?

Well, I don't nor have I ever bought bottled water, and I drink my beer from bottles, not cans.
I make my coffee at home and take it with me instead of stopping at a coffee shop.

I brought a Tesco shopping bag back with me to use here instead of carrying advertising for our chain stores.

TEACHING someone to respect the environment is a LOT DIFFERENT than the government mandating or banning useful items merely to appease a lobbying group.

Plastics are useful. Even plastic straws are useful.

Then there's the unaddressed issue of what do we do with the trash that's already IN the environment? That's the elephant in the room that NO ONE is talking about. Banning more use will not make any of that magically "go away".

So, instead of feel good non-solutions, why not figure out a way to clean up the mess FIRST.

STFU, you dumbass. We're talking about SINGLE USE, not ban of all plastics. And obviously, TEACHING isn't WORKING so government mandates to change how we treat the environment are NECESSARY.

A and W has as already replaced single use plastics up here. They use a heavily wax coated paper to make the straws. A and W is the only fast food chain I infrequently visit. Nothing to develop, already done. Say what you want about Trudeau but Scheer is a moronic fucktard, look up his fiscal management ideas, also a white supremacist.
ETA The carbon tax is going to cost taxpayers a grand total of $620 over 8 or 9 years or some ridiculously low number. I'll look it up and send it to you via pm.
