Bush2 is remembered fondly now.
Obama is loved like Bill Cosby was; dude should hawk Puddin' Pops.
Clinton's beloved everywhere he speaks for a suitcase full of cash.
Carter's like an honorary Billy Graham great grandfather.
Even the mealy mouthed assgrabber Bush1 is remembered with warmth.

How long for Trump?

Don't forget Reagan.

Reagan was President when I first became politically aware. I can tell you from living through his presidency that he was every bit as despised, ridiculed, and denigrated by his opponents as Trump is now.

Today, he, too, is remembered fondly, even by Democrats.

Someday Zipperson will yearn for the Trump Years.

It's true that he was not universally loved, especially during the bad recession early in his term and after Iran-Contra. But he was generally popular for most of his presidency, and of course won two landslides, something Trump can obviously never match.

It also ignores that hatred for Trump is based primarily on the well-founded belief, achieved over the 35 or so years he's been famous, that he's a terrible human being. There is no possibility this will ever change.

Not a great comparison. A better comparison might be with another minority president:

Bush2 is remembered fondly now.

Um, no he isn't.

Lol In your dreams.

Reagan was never hated as much as the Orange Idiot, who will NEVER be remembered fondly. He will be the touchstone for democratic reform and legislation to prevent such an incompetant from ever stepping foot in the WH again. He will be a black mark in history and all his voters and enablers forever shamed.

Lmao. You people truly live in your own universe.

Another 6 years unless the Democrats get him killed sooner.

Fuck that.

America breathed a sigh of relief when that senile old coot left office.

Tax Asswipe Grover Norquist needed a "mythical figure" to sell his tax cut snakeoil, so he founded the "Ronald Reagan Legacy Project", which lionized Reagan as the perfect conservative.

People already love him. The only people that don’t are establishment Democrats AND Republicans that put party before PEOPLE!!!

The latest CNN polls say most people believe Trump will win a second term.... must be beloved by the majority!

I was in high school and college during Reagan's two terms, so I saw how young leftists and older academics reacted to his time as President. He was certainly vilified at least as much as Trump, pretty much for all the same reasons, i.e., because he believed in limited federal regulation, lower taxes, a strong national defense, and, as the President of the United States, putting American interests ahead of those of other nations. Many people claimed his policies would ruin the economy and lead to WWIII, when in actuality his policies did just the opposite, they ended the Carter Great Malaise and led to the downfall of the Soviet Union.

Trump will be remembered fondly after a suitable cooling off period for the haters; he’s an icon of american culture, in many ways already bigger than any pres ever.

That would explain your very poor memory.
Reagan averaged 53% job approval, Trump has yet to break 50%

I disagreed a lot with Reagan, but he tried to be a decent man, or at least generally gave that appearance.

There are a lot of problems with american culture, but I'd like to think it's not as shit as that.

And no, he'll never be remembered fondly by anyone other than the kool-aid drinking members of the Trump Cult.

Yes, a lot of people dislike his policies, but he's "vilified" because he's a pathological liar with no respect for the rule of law, at least as it applies to him and his cult members.

And he's certainly not for lower taxes, otherwise he wouldn't be raising them, most recently on goods imported from Mexico and threats to raise the taxes an additional 27+%.
Since he was elected he's already raised them enough to start putting farmers out of business and causing other businesses to cut back on hiring and expansion.

And he might be for a strong national defense, but he's fucking over the people who provide it by taking money from their housing to put towards a non-existent national emergency. And taking people from DHS cyber-security to work on the border.

FYP

It remains to be seen whether he will still hold their affection tilo election date but he's already sufficiently appreciated by the Americans that actually matter to America's relatively bleak future. That is, if anything actually matters. Our last best Hope was probably entitlements under Reagan and they blew it.

If you take the view that none of it really matters then I probably wouldn't hate a Biden presidency..
