Team Obama advising Iran

Trump is selling $10s of billion in weapons to Saudi Arabia, which gave the world bin Ladan, Al Qaeda, and Islamic State, and Republicans seem okay with that.

Let's hope that, say, 1% of those weapons don't fall into anti-American/anti-Western/anti-Christian hands. (The less, the better: ideally none.)

State Department should make them register as foreign agents of Iran or revoke their passports.

Any American outside the country who criticizes Trump and/or talks politics with non-Americans should have his/her passport revoked.

and what's Trump's plan for ensuring Iran doesn't get nukes, save impotent rants and an embargo one could drive trucks through.

Choking them to death economically and a military option of blowing their facilities to hell and gone.

No Dope, he has the constitutional authority to negotiate with the enemy. That's the difference, plus he's pro-American, the others referred to aren't.
He's also pro-Communist dictator.

Yeah, the Islamo-fascists have been running Iran for 40 years: they seem to have an ability to get out of choke holds.

Blow up their facilities? Like America did with North Korea? The country that's smaller, less populated, and poorer than Iran? China's got stuff, Iran has oil. Who's gonna stop them trading?

Besides, Trump says he wants more nukes.

You're a liar.

You don't know much about what is happening in Iran economically.

U.S. To Sanction Iranian Oil Buyers Without Exception
By Tsvetana Paraskova - May 31, 2019, 9:30 AM CDT

The United States will sanction any country that tries to buy Iranian oil after the sanction waivers expired on May 2, regardless of whether said country had reached its negotiated cap under the exemptions, the U.S. Special Representative for Iran, Brian Hook, said, clarifying earlier comments that resulted in speculation that the U.S. would allow countries that hadn’t reached their cap of Iranian imports to continue buying oil from Iran until they reach that cap.

“Our firm policy is to completely zero out purchases of Iranian oil -- period,” Hook told Bloomberg News in a statement on Thursday.

“Any new purchases of oil initiated after the expiration of the SREs [significant reduction exceptions] on May 2 will be subject to U.S. sanctions, even if a country had not met its previously negotiated purchase caps during the SRE period from November to May 2.”

Hook’s comments came after remarks he made earlier on Thursday in a press briefing in which he said:

“And so once people have reached that cap of what was negotiated during that period that then would be the limit of the oil that we would permit to move through that would not be sanctioned. We will sanction any efforts to import Iranian crude oil beyond the limits that were negotiated in the period that ran from November through May.”

Actually, I should have added another hyphen. Trump's not a Communist dictator—American love for freedom and democracy is (still) too great for that to happen, but rather he bromances Communist dictators.

You don't know much about what is happening in Iran economically.
I'm not sure many of us do.

Again, Iran—and other countries—have been dealing with this for 40 years.

For example, Trump's idiotic tariffs on China already disincentivizes them not trading with Iran. If tariffs make Chinese phones too expensive, they might drop the price a little so they can sell to others, such as the Iranians. If Trump, in one of his fits, blocks all Chinese imports because of it, even more voters will get angry at him and his minions in the GOP caucus.

Sanctions mean higher gas prices if they're effective, and little if they aren't. If there were two gas stations and the one selling gas from Iranian petroleum was a nickel-a-gallon cheaper, chances are, it will have the longer line.

There are over 15 countries each with a +$1 trillion GDP. If enough gave Trump a collective "fuck you," or more likely a, "Yes Mr. Trump, we won't buy and sell to and from Iran, or any other country you're mad at—we promise—cross our hearts and hope to die," all the while pissing on his shoes, he'll be seen as even more impotent than now.

Again, I'm pretty sure that Iran is capable of doing pretty well anything North Korea has done—likely more.

The time to smother the Islamic republic was 40 years ago. Carter failed, Reagan failed. I see it ending, or at least the Islamo-fascism waning, but that's long-term and will unlikely be done (at least not with bad effects) with sanctions.
