Demon Destruction

Was it gratuitous?

People can be killed in a story but not if it’s seen as gratuitous and there is no credible reason for it happening. You’ll have to give us an idea of what the demon did to deserve being killed and also, importantly, how was the demon despatched?

It's dispatched with pain, pain that it gave other ghosts in the hall in which the story occurs.

There's no blood, no guts. It's as if the "moderator" never read it.

Is the death sexualized? Did the person/entity/whatever that killed the demon derive sexual pleasure from it?

Laurel (the only submissions editor) undoubtedly didn't read it. There probably were key words in it that raised questions but may not actually be questionable. I had a story rejected for possible underage yesterday and all it took to put it back on posting track was to state in the notes section that there was no underage sex and that all characters engaging in sex were explicitly stated as of age (and asking that, if the editor disagreed, please for her to point to the issue). It's now marked to post tomorrow--one day more than normal. If the death in your story doesn't involve gratuitous violence or gore, it may be all you need do is toss it back into the submissions pile with that noted in the notes box.

It's regrettable that stories are rejected here only on supposition of what may be in them, but if Laurel read them all before passing them, probably only a fourth of those submitted would be posted.

Thank you.

I'll noted as there is no sex and the dispatching of the demon is not gratuitous.

Polished ghosts in this house forbid be to do so!
I've not yet tried to polish a ghost. I imagine it gets sticky. I've not polished any goats either -- they all flee. They must dislike Shinola.

It's my fault. I changed the spelling. All in the name of HUMOUR, hey? It makes a funny-one-time joke. Cheers!

Anyway, a daemon is a Unix background process, or a gentle nature spirit in Greek mythology, or so Wikipedia says. Poles must attract different daemons. Are any daemons also pole-dancers?
