Texas Republican: vaccines are sorcery

they mandate isolation for the possibly infected now or proof of vax

like that ship
like
having said that, the county order for unvaccinated children & teenagers to not be allowed in public places was "put on hold" by a judge as a step too far after public outcry from parents of unvaccinated kids as the ban being akin to a nazi-esque clampdown on the movement of jewish people.

here's the thing: if the disease was 'eradicated' in america and people don't wish to take advantage of the vax-systems available, but then want to take their unvaxxed selves/children abroad where measles is still very much alive and kicking, then they should have to be vaccinated in order to travel there so as not to contract it abroad and import it, no?

Since something like 15% of Guatemalans are not vaccinated I'm sure that you approve of a travel ban from Guatemala and other countries unless they can present documentation that they have been immunized, right?

You good with Robert F. Kennrdy, Jr. being on house arrest until he vaccinates his kids?

No, it's not, it's basic liberalism.
Hitler called his fascism "national socialism".
You call your toxic glibertarianism "basic liberalism".
No, I'm not and never have, Jonathan Stickland is.
Learn to read Rob. Or just stop being so dishonest...
Okay, if you think I'm ascribing positions to you, why don't you flat out tell us whether or not you're in favor of mandatory government vaccinations? Try and do it without your usual qualifications and loopholes. Let me tell you my unequivicoable position: I am in favor of government-mandated vaccinations. Are you?
No, nice false equivalency though.
Not at all. I invite you to show us exactly the quote false equivalency unquote. This should be fun.
No I'm not, HE was as his misrepresentation of Sticklands position was blatant and obvious to the literate.
He wasn't misrepresenting Strickland's position AT ALL. Strickland is obviously a fucking anti-vaxxing moron. And you appeared to agree with Strickland, at least until I called you out on it, and now it's "oh noe! Those are Strickland's words, not mine!"

Here's your chance to nut up, boy. Tell us in your own words if vaccines should be mandated.

The stupid is strong here. Why are they not aware of the science of herd immunity?

I happen to be pro-vaccination but how do you endanger anyone else, unless they too, are not immunized. You're only endangering other people that are making the same choice that you are. You're not endangering people that are doing the things that the fascist want other people to do.

I don't hear any of them complaining about entry to the US of non US citizens who have not been immunized.

Why?

We know why.

Don't forget the part where some people can't be vaccinated due to other medical conditions or that vaccinations are ineffective due to other medical conditions.
Then when you are not vaccinated and you expose them to the disease you are putting other people in danger.

wrong

babies get their measles shots at the age of one year
they can catch measles from the time they are born

measles can cause seizures, pneumonia (the most common serious complication in measles), measles encephalitis, deafness, intellectual disability.

roald dahl, on the death of his young daughter in '62 who died from measles encephalitis:

"Awful drive. Lorries kept holding us up on narrow roads. Got to hospital. Ambulance went to wrong entrance. Backed out. Arrived. Young doctor in charge. Mervyn and he gave her 3mg sodium amatol. I sat in hall. Smoked. Felt frozen. A small single bar electric fire on wall. An old man in next room. Woman doctor went to phone. She was trying urgently to locate another doctor. He arrived. I went in. Olivia lying quietly. Still unconscious. She has an even chance, doctor said. They had tapped her spine. Not meningitis. It’s encephalitis. Mervyn left in my car. I stayed. Pat arrived and went in to see Olivia. Kissed her. Spoke to her. Still unconscious. I went in. I said, “Olivia… Olivia.” She raised her head slightly off pillow. Sister said don’t. I went out. We drank whiskey. I told doctor to consult experts. Call anyone. He called a man in Oxford. I listened. Instructions were given. Not much could be done. I first said I would stay on. Then I said I’d go back with Pat. Went. Arrived home. Called Philip Evans. He called hospital. Called me back. “Shall I come?” “Yes please.” I said I’d tell hospital he was coming. I called. Doc thought I was Evans. He said I’m afraid she’s worse. I got in the car. Got to hospital. Walked in. Two doctors advanced on me from waiting room. How is she? I’m afraid it’s too late. I went into her room. Sheet was over her. Doctor said to nurse go out. Leave him alone. I kissed her. She was warm. I went out. “She is warm.” I said to doctors in hall, “Why is she so warm?” “Of course,” he said. I left.

“I feel all sleepy, ” she said.

In an hour, she was unconscious. In twelve hours she was dead."

Hitler called his fascism "national socialism".
You call your toxic glibertarianism "basic liberalism".

Didn't even have to try and you fallaciously Godwin out line one LOL

It's not "toxic glibertarianism" , it's prioritizing individual liberty.....standard definition liberalism.

Liberalism, political doctrine that takes protecting and enhancing the freedom of the individual to be the central problem of politics.
https://www.britannica.com/topic/liberalism

You seriously should take a basic poli-sci class sometime.

Okay, if you think I'm ascribing positions to you,

It's not up for debate Rob, you point blank engaged in ascription, it's right there black and white.

why don't you flat out tell us whether or not you're in favor of mandatory government vaccinations? Try and do it without your usual qualifications and loopholes. Let me tell you my unequivicoable position: I am in favor of government-mandated vaccinations. Are you?

You mean nuance and rationalism...that comes with education. ;)

I am as I believe it is a public good necessary to the general welfare of the nation.

Not at all. I invite you to show us exactly the quote false equivalency unquote. This should be fun.
We drive on the right hand side of the road here in America.....are your "freedoms" being restricted because you can't drive on the left?
Are your "freedoms" being restricted by being forced to pass a driver's test?
Are your "freedoms" being restricted by being forced to follow speed limits?

Agreed upon customs for voluntary public activities (driving on public roads) are not the same as forced vaccinations. It's a false equivalency....textbook and blatant.

He wasn't misrepresenting Strickland's position AT ALL.

Yes, he is because Strickland's position isn't "Fuck vaccines".....it's "government shouldn't force vaccines, they should be voluntary" an obvious fact to the literate.

Strickland is obviously a fucking anti-vaxxing moron. And you appeared to agree with Strickland, at least until I called you out on it, and now it's "oh noe! Those are Strickland's words, not mine!"

That may be true and your opinion but that doesn't make "fuck vaccines" his position or mine.....your ascription and Ryans misrepresentations notwithstanding.

You desperately need to learn how to read.

Here's your chance to nut up, boy. Tell us in your own words if vaccines should be mandated.

Asked and delivered, unless you fail at reading yet again, which wouldn't shock me in the slightest.

Because babies don't get immunized until later. Therefore, they are putting every single new born at risk.

They also endanger the lives of people with immunodeficiency such as people with diseases or who are in cancer treatment.

Maybe you should try educating yourself before you voice ignorant opinions.

Yeah, my mother has almost no detectable immune system now. A dose of measles would almost certainly kill her.

Anyone who's had a transplant takes immunosuppressants. Some react more strongly than others, but they're all at risk from the unvaccinated.

Oh look, I finally got BotanyBoy "on the record" on mandatory vaccinations.

*gasp* and Mr. Individual-Liberty-Uber-Alles is actually in FAVOR of them.

What have we learned, class?

We've learned that when there is a clear and present danger to him personally (in this case diseases), he's more than willing to chuck his toxic belief systems aside and let the Federal government, the one he routinely decries as a socialist regime, handle things.

Sorry to break this news to you stupid one. Children cant be vaccinated for certain viruses until they have reached a certain age. Of course, you dont give a shit about them do you?

yeah, it goes further than babies.

anyone who's seen a baby sick with the measles, running high temperatures, covered in the rash, spots in their eyes and everywhere, noses running, crying in distress - anyone with any decency, that is - wouldn't say 'well, hey, that's okay, i'm good with that'

Never wasn't in favor of government authority when applied in accordance with the ideals of classic English liberalism the country was founded on and government structured for.

I'm a liberal, not an anarchist. You really....really really really ought to take a basic US government, US history and poli-sci 1301 class at your local CC.

You think the belief systems the USA was founded upon are toxic? Doesn't shock me that you do, most USA loathing lefties do as well, question is why do you stay in the US seeing as you so obviously loath it's core political values?? You know you can leave right?

When did I ever describe the US federal government as a socialist regime??

Why must you be so dishonest Rob???

I suppose this is what I get for picking on the uneducated.

indeed,
Three of the children were infected on a visit to Israel, where there is a large outbreak of the disease, the department stated.

As of Sunday, Israel's Ministry of Health counted 1,334 measles patients, including a toddler who died from the illness last week. The ministry believes that the disease was imported by tourists and visitors who infected an unvaccinated population, largely among the nation's ultra-Orthodox Jewish communities.

When a large percentage of the population is vaccinated, "herd immunity" will protect against the spread of disease among the unvaccinated or partially vaccinated, including babies. The CDC recommends the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine for all children at age 12 months, with a second dose at 4 to 6 years old.

The problem in the Brooklyn outbreak is delayed vaccination or children not receiving the MMR vaccine at 12 months old, De Souza said: "This outbreak would not have happened if the children had been vaccinated on time." However, she also noted that "overall in NYC, our vaccine coverage is high as is compliance with the school immunization requirements."

The CDC also recommends that everyone, including infants 6 to 11 months old, should be vaccinated before international travel.

God Bless Texas! I've lived there, they're all bumpkins. That's coming from an Iowan for God sake!

maybe all that rain-driven flooding is god's way of showing disapproval that measles is making a bid for a strong come-back. i doubt it, though. more weather-related

maybe Trump winning the election is god's way of showing disapproval for all things Democrat. I doubt it though. more likely it's just voter related.

"Mandatory vaccinations" are problematic.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again:

1. Enforcement. How? Jail time? At the end of a barrel? Random antibody testing? National database?

2. What vaccines are mandatory? Drugco Inc. will surely want theirs on the list.

3. Liability. If a batch is found to be contaminated or otherwise faulty, who gets the blame? Obviously the corporations who will profit immensely from this "forced vaccination program" will have to have full immunity.

4. Some people cannot be vaccinated. Severe allergies, immune system problems, etc. Should they be held in isolation?

remind me, was that pre polio or another disease's treatment

Polio. My sister died age 12 from it, a couple of years before Polio vaccine was available in the UK (along with hundreds of UK kids who died that year).

Problematic, yes, but not without solutions.

1. Enforcement. This has mostly to do with children, so make participation in any and all school extracurricular activities contingent upon vaccination. Most school sports require a physical, and there's little to no opposition there...just expand idea that to things like band, chess club, and little Johnny will likely not mind getting the shots at all. You have a private school where vaccinations aren't mandatory? Fine, your teams cannot play public schools, or in public facilities.

2. Simple
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
  • DPT (Diptheria, Pertussis, Tetanus
  • Chickenpox
  • Hepatitis B
  • Tuberculosis Skin Test
  • Yearly Influenza (this can be optional)

3. Liability for bad batches? The likelihood of that is extremely rare, but sue the vaccine maker (blue states) or suck it up and die for corporate profits! (red states)

4. Agreed, some people cannot be vaccinated. Make that the rare exception, not the rule. case by case basis. Like having someone in your classroom who is allergic to peanuts, the whole class agrees not to bring peanut snacks for the year.
