George W. Bush may be the only person in the world who can force Trump out of office

Mr. President, you can rewrite your legacy. You, Mr. President, you, George W. Bush, can save the United States of America.
The Crisis Before Us

Our government is embroiled today in as serious of a constitutional crisis as it has ever seen. No, it’s not the Civil War. It’s not the 1952 steel strike. It’s not federal troops escorting black children to school. It’s not Watergate.

You, Mr. President, are the only person in the country with the moral authority and the political influence to stop Trump’s dismantling of our republic.

But just as each of those moments in history pivoted around disputes over the fundamental structure of our government and its powers, so too, now, are we participating in a great moment when our basic belief in the primacy of the law and our allegiance to the separation of power between Congress and the Presidency are being tested.

Today, you, Mr. President, are the only person in the country with the moral authority and the political influence to stop Trump’s dismantling of our republic. Other Republican leaders won’t do it. They demonstrated over the first two years of the Trump era that they have no honor, no integrity and no fealty to our way of government. And no Democrat can pierce the miasma of right-wing propaganda to muster the moral outrage of Republican voters and Trump’s MAGAloids. They will dismiss any calls for Trump’s removal made by Nancy Pelosi, Charles Schumer, Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, any Democrat now on the national stage.

Ronald Reagan himself could rise from the grave like Marley’s ghost to warn of the coming catastrophe, and it would not move Trump’s base supporters.

Which is why you, George W. Bush, 43rd President of the United States, are the last man at the Alamo of the American republic.

Will 'W' stand up for America? Very unlikely, but maybe 'W' will rise to the challenge.

Trump complains about fake news. Facebook takes action against fake news. Trump complains about Facebook action.

Mueller sets ‘tentative date’ to appear before House Judiciary Committee to discuss Trump investigation

May 15th!
The report states, “The House Judiciary Committee and a representative for special counsel Robert Mueller have agreed to a “tentative date” of May 15 for Mueller to testify about his investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election, Rep. David Cicilline (D-R.I.) said on Fox News Sunday.”

Will Bill Barr object? Will the Trumpster implode, stay tuned.:D

The Sunday Circus

‘I’m confused’: Chris Wallace sends Mike Pompeo down in flames over Trump’s failure to confront Putin

Pompeo interrupted: “You’re looking at the administration that has been tougher on Russia than any of its predacessors and yet you continue to be fixated on something that Robert Mueller wrote down. I struggle with that.”

“I’m not fixated about Robert Mueller,” Wallace replied. “I’m fixated on the president’s conversation with Vladimir Putin and the fact that in the conversation that he doesn’t even mention meddling in 2020. And the question I’m asking — I think it’s a legitimate one, a lot of people are asking it, sir — is, why not?”

Yes, why not?

George Conway shreds Mike Pompeo for his ‘ridiculous’ defense of Trump: ‘Do these people ever get embarrassed?

The husband of White House advisor Kellyanne Conway spread his criticism of President Donald Trump even wider on by criticizing Secretary of State Mike Pompeo for his appearances on the Sunday morning cable shows.

In a series of tweets that covered Pompeo’s answers to questions involving North Korea and Venezuela, conservative attorney George Conway labeled the responses as “ridiculous” and wondered if anyone who works for Trump (presumably not including his wife — or maybe he passive-aggressively did) is ever embarrassed at what they have to spout in defense of the president and his policies.

Trump furiously demands Mueller not appear before House Judiciary Committee in Twitter meltdown

Trumpski Twatted!

Reacting to news that special counsel Robert Mueller has made “tentative” plans to appear before a House Committee, President Donald Trump went on a furious Twitter rampage demanding Mueller not show up.

On Twitter, Trump ranted, “After spending more than $35,000,000 over a two year period, interviewing 500 people, using 18 Trump Hating Angry Democrats & 49 FBI Agents – all culminating in a more than 400 page Report showing NO COLLUSION – why would the Democrats in Congress now need Robert Mueller” before adding, …”to testify. Are they looking for a redo because they hated seeing the strong NO COLLUSION conclusion? There was no crime, except on the other side (incredibly not covered in the Report), and NO OBSTRUCTION. Bob Mueller should not testify. No redos for the Dems!”

:D:D:D:)

Trump is terrified that Mueller hearings will be ‘a reality show that’s out of his control’: CNN’s Errol Louis

CNN political analyst Errol Louis said on Monday that President Donald Trump is terrified by the spectacle of special counsel Robert Mueller testifying before Congress.

While discussing Trump’s sudden insistence that Mueller should not be allowed to testify, Louis said that Trump understands that hearing Mueller testify about his work live before Congress would have a far greater impact than the release of a 448-page report that has not been read by the vast majority of voters.

“What the president fears here is what I remember most vividly as a child, which is watching those Watergate hearings,” he said. “It galvanized the country. It moved the polls from a majority saying Watergate is about nothing to a majority saying Watergate is really, really serious.”

Louis then explained that such hearings would be particularly nerve wracking for Trump because he would have no way to control what Mueller says.

“The president doesn’t want a reality show that’s out of his control to go unscripted on national television involving the characters that have been perusing him for so long,” he said.

Lumpy doesn't want a REAL Reality Show! Tough Shit Trumpski!:D

‘Panicky’ Trump has been told by lawyers he can’t block Mueller testimony: ‘Resistance is futile’

In a column for the Post, Greg Sargent claimed he got clarification on where Trump stands from Robert Bauer, the White House counsel under Barack Obama, who said Trump obviously has been advised that he has no legal options available to him.

“I would assume his lawyers will be, or are, telling him (1) that he cannot put his attorney general, whom he would not want to lose, in the impossible position of having committed that Mueller would testify, only to be overruled by Trump and 2) resistance is futile, because eventually Mueller will testify,” Bauer wrote.

Sargent added, “If so, Trump’s tweets urging Mueller not to testify appear more feckless and panicky than anything else.”

Trumpski has lost his Feck!:D

Europe appears to be sliding into an economic recession. China may be there already, with the rest of Asia not far behind. South America is swirling in turmoil. Only Donald Trump’s America continues to boom economically, with blue collar jobs growing ever-more plentiful since Election Day 2016, when the anti-growth economic policies of former President Obama began to be discarded by the incoming president.

Barack thought he was helping Mrs. Clinton when he told the 2016 Democratic Party convention goers that the only way to experience a third Obama term was to vote for Hillary. Mrs. Clinton herself seconded that, pledging to continue President Obama’s economic policies. Blue collar voters from Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Missouri, West Virginia, Indiana, & Iowa ALL responded by saying that they'd had enough of that, thank you very much.

Blue collar workers were once the backbone of the Democratic Party, particularly unionized industrial workers. That began to change with Richard Nixon, only to be accelerated by Ronald Reagan. But it returned with a vengeance in 2010, with a Republican off-year election landslide of 63 seats in the House and six in the Senate in the midst of Mr. Obama’s first term, continuing with even greater Democratic Party legislative losses in 2014.

Economist Milton Friedman once said that the worse a recession is, the stronger the recovery that follows. Democrats don’t know it yet, but the rest of America recognized President Obama’s economic policies as a dismal failure by that very metric. President Obama basically said: "Get used to it, America, less-than 2 percent economic growth is now the 'New Normal' - those manufacturing jobs are never coming back."

But President Trump's economic policies of tax rate cuts, deregulation, and stable dollar monetary policies have worked to produce explosive economic growth four times as great as anything experienced over the past 100 years. The end result has has included the lowest African-American unemployment, the lowest Hispanic-American unemployment, the lowest Asian-American unemployment, the lowest teen unemployment, and soon-to-be the lowest female unemployment ever recorded in American history. It all adds up to the most inclusive economic recovery in our nation's history.

Our current booming economic growth is the root of prosperity for working people - it's the complete opposite of socialism - socialist economics produces only poverty, mostly for the least-skilled workers. The greatest THREATS to the current Trump economic boom are those tax increases being supported & even demanded by nearly ALL of President Trump’s 2020 Democratic Party presidential opponents, whatever shade of socialism he-or-she may embrace - because their proposed tax increases would push America back into recession, joining the rest of the world.

So go ahead Democrats, and run the 1984 election all over again. Run Walter Mondale against Ronald Reagan. Only this time let your candidate openly espouse socialism. After all, that is working out so well before our very eyes this very day, in the formerly prosperous nation of Venezuela.

READ: Mnuchin’s letter refusing to release Trump’s tax returns – including his ridiculous reasoning

Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin has just informed the chairman of the House Way and Means Committee he will not release President Donald Trump’s tax returns, despite a clear law requiring the IRS to abide by the request.

In Secretary Mnuchin’s letter, he calls the request “unprecedented,” and claims – falsely, according to legal experts – the request “presents serious constitutional questions,” and Treasury is “not authorized.”

Send subpoenas, Marshals and Handcuffs! Will Bill Barr enforce the LAW? Will Congress act instead of whine? Will Munchkin spend his declining years in Jail?:D

‘Change the whole conversation’: GOP strategist urges Dems to link Trump’s taxes to his business corruption

But while the legal facts are on Democrats’ side, they need a winning message to rally the public to back their quest to review the president’s finances, said Republican strategist Susan Del Percio on MSNBC’s “Meet the Press Daily.” And her personal suggestion: remind the public that Trump needs to prove he isn’t abusing his office to enrich his businesses.

“I think the conversation around this needs to be streamlined a bit,” said Del Percio. “It’s like, why do you need his taxes? I think what the public just needs to know is that the president has not given up the right to be involved in his business. It is not in a blind trust. So he could be making money directly off of his time in office. Just stop it right there.”

“I think everyone could get around that message, and it would change the whole conversation,” said Del Percio. “If it was just more direct.”

:D

Republicans risk destroying their own future powers by not speaking up about Mnuchin breaking the law: Congressman

With Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin now refusing to furnish President Donald Trump’s tax returns to Congress, the administration is now violating federal law.

It is not only Trump’s opponents who should be outraged, said Rep. Jim Himes (D-CT) on CNN’s “Anderson Cooper 360.” Republicans should also be troubled — because if Trump gets away with it, that would set a stark precedent against a future GOP Congress from conducting oversight into a Democratic president.

How will Rethug's control President Waren when she asks AG Harris to investigate how many rubles are in their campaign funds?

Rachel Maddow: Don McGahn’s testimony should scare the pants off of Trump

“You might remember right after the redacted version of the Mueller report was published, with Don McGahn cited more than 150 times, with Don McGahn having a key role as a key witness and player on the part of the president that were laid out in the report, right after the report came out, the Judiciary Committee in the House issued this subpoena,” she said, noting that Trump himself has proclaimed he would not let McGahn testify.

To bad, Trumpski, you have no say in the matter as McGann was White House Council, not Trumpski cover-upper. :D

Mnuchin willing to risk prison time because he is ‘compromised’ by Trump: Pulitzer Prize–winning reporter

“The likely outcome is that the House Ways and Means Committee chairman, Richard Neal, will get a vote to take the president’s team to court,” Johnston said.

And both Mnuchin and Charles Reddig, the IRS commissioner — who is the person with the technical legal authority who is supposed to turn it over — run some risk here. If they are ultimately prosecuted, which certainly wouldn’t happen during this administration, they’re at risk of five years in prison and, of course, being labeled felons which would seriously interfere with Mnuchin’s going back to Wall Street and Reddig continuing to practice law as a tax avoidance lawyer.”

Arrest them both for breaking the Law. accuse them of Terrorist Acts and send them to GitMo! Cite them for Contempt of Congress too! Bust their humps with so much litigation that they will die in debt and homeless!:D

icanhelp1 writes: "Just like Lois Lerner"

Yes, I remember her.

Lois Lerner was President Obama's hand-picked replacement to run the Internal Revenue Service, and she was directed by somebody at the White House to make it difficult for conservative organizations to raise funds. When congress got wind of this highly-illegal irregularity, Ms. Lerner was subpoenaed to testify before a House committee, at which point she repeatedly pleaded the fifth rather than say who gave her that order to target conservative fund-raising groups.

Ms. Lerner's actions became just another part of the Obama administration's long record of corruption, which also included U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder's being CENSURED by the U.S. House of Representatives - and who can ever forget Holder's replacement (Loretta Lynch) secretly meeting with former President Bill Clinton at that airport tarmac in Phoenix to discuss impending charges against his wife regarding her e-mails while Hillary was still Secretary of State? Bill's explanation was that he only met with Attorney General Lynch to discuss his "grandchildren and his golf game!" Nobody believed that!

Mitch McConnell bizarrely blames Obama for Russian efforts to elect Trump

Senate Majority Mitch McConnell declared “case closed” on special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation of Trump campaign ties to Russia — and the Kentucky Republican blamed former President Barack Obama.

McConnell insisted Obama had not done enough to stop Russian interference in the 2016 presidential campaign, despite his own role in derailing a bipartisan pushback against that foreign meddling.

“I think many of us now see that President Obama’s approach to Russia could have used some more of the 1980’s, more Ronald Reagan and less Jimmy Carter,” McConnell said.

McConnell reportedly threatened to politicize Obama’s warnings about Kremlin efforts to interfere in the election on President Donald Trump’s behalf, but now that Mueller’s investigation is over the GOP senator passed the blame back to the former president.

Yeah maybe BHO should have just made a deal with the Russians to fuck over the Trumpster and he'd sell them some weapons, like Ronnie did?

Then he could use the money to evade the illegal arming of Venezuela, just like the Rethuglicans did?

Frantic White House advisers attempt to smother Trump’s irresponsible threat to stop Mueller from talking

According to a report at Politico, Donald Trump’s tweeted threat to stop special counsel Robert Mueller from testifying before Congress caught some of his closest advisers by surprise and they quickly reached out to the press to dismiss and pretend it never happened.

On Sunday, Trump demanded Mueller not agree to discuss the 400-page report he submitted to Attorney General Bill Barr, setting off a firestorm of criticism that he is once again obstructing Congressional oversight.

On Monday, a former White House counsel said that Trump has already likely been advised that he doesn’t have a legal leg to stand on — but that didn’t stop him from complaining on Twitter — which has his defenders scrambling.

“He is not signaling anything other than, as an innocent man :)rolleyes:) so found by Mr. Mueller, he just wants this over. He’d like to govern. That’s all he’s saying,” explained outside Trump legal adviser Joe diGenova.

Trumpski Tweets, and dozens scramble to explain he didn't mean it to be obstruction!

George Conway calls out Mitch McConnell for covering up Mueller’s findings

“This isn’t about the results of the 2016 election, and isn’t about partisan politics,” Conway tweeted at McConnell. “It’s about whether the President of the United States improperly tried to undermine an investigation into a foreign hostile power’s interference with our democratic affairs, and, thus, ultimately, whether or not he complied with his oath and his obligations under the Constitution.”

“And so, too, if you choose to ignore it,” Conway added, “the matter becomes a question of whether you and your colleagues have complied with your solemn duties as well.”

Steven Mnuchin Tells Congress To Get F*cked, Citing Very Serious Legal Reasons TBD

As expected, Steven Mnuchin ended the day Monday by inviting Congress to conduct oversight of his wrinkly, white ass. In a five-paragraph letter, Mnuchin informed the House Ways and Means Committee that the Justice Department has discovered this one weird trick to make unwanted congressional document demands disappear. They haven't actually told him the trick yet -- Bill Barr will whisper those magic words in his ear "as soon as practicable" -- but in the meantime, ummm, Alla Kazam, Alla Kazoo, Fuck You and MAGA, No Tax Returns For You!

But back to Mnuchin. Let's make an educated guess as to why he came to Congress with this flimsy-ass letter telling them to piss off for legal reasons TBD. We already know what the legal argument will be -- we've seen Trump's lawyers spamming the IRS with their Eastland footnote nonsense. The problem is getting a lawyer who actually cares about the rule of law, not to mention her reputation, to put her name on it.

When Sessions withdrew Justice Department support for the individual mandate in 2018, one career DOJ lawyer resigned and two withdrew from the case. Last month when Barr switched the DOJ's position to REPEAL AND GO FUCK YOURSELF, not one single career Justice official was willing to sign onto it. And when the DOJ does finally barf up some nonsense to justify withholding Trump's tax return from Congress, we're betting there won't be any career employees willing to back it up. Because making a farcical legal argument as a blatant tool to delay legitimate congressional oversight violates the prosecutor's oath of office. In fact, it slips perilously close to obstruction of Congress. If the DOJ had lawyers willing to put their reputations on the line to do it, they'd have already done it.

For now it's just Mnuchin and Barr, the two cheapest whores in DC. And they'll do anything.

Lock them up!:D

Elizabeth Warren shames Mitch McConnell by reading directly from Mueller report on the Senate floor

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) on Tuesday brought down the hammer on Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), who insisted that there was no longer any need to investigate whether President Donald Trump illegally obstructed special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation.

During her speech on the Senate floor, Warren cited the separation of powers granted to Congress under the United States Constitution, and she accused McConnell of completely abdicating his duty as a senator by circling the wagons to protect the president.

Liz/Bernie 2020, Harris for AG!:D

Trump ‘furious’ at his top outside adviser for getting caught in financial scandal:

President Donald Trump is allegedly “furious” with his close friend and former political adviser and deputy campaign manager David Bossie, according to a report from The Daily Beast.

Bossie is in the midst of a financial scandal. A political organization run by Bossie claimed it was fundraising money for conservative candidates. However, only a “tiny fraction” has supported the candidates, reported Axios.

“Trump was angry at a report from Axios that revealed how Bossie’s political group, the Presidential Coalition, had raised about $18.5 million since 2017 but had spent just $425,000 on actual political activity, a minuscule percentage for such a large outfit. The group spent even more than that buying books, including pro-Trump tracts authored by Bossie himself,” the report said.

Adding, “But few slights bother Trump more than the perception of someone profiting off his name, especially if those funds could have otherwise benefited the 2020 campaign. And, within hours of the report surfacing, the president had instructed aides to deal with it.”

Trumpski is pissed because he only got a paltry $425K, and Bossie squandered the rest!

Nancy Pelosi Still Does Not Fully Grasp That the Trump Crisis Is Here and Now

Nancy has lost her grip and is afraid of Trump! A feckless cunt and scared of Rethuglican lies!

Anyway, over the weekend, in an interview with The New York Times, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi delivered herself of some curious thoughts regarding the current state of things, remarks that indicate that at least part of the Speaker's brain gets it and that another part does not, and that, somewhere in between, something has to be done.

“If we win by four seats, by a thousand votes each, he’s not going to respect the election,” said Ms. Pelosi, recalling her thinking in the run-up to the 2018 elections. “He would poison the public mind. He would challenge each of the races; he would say you can’t seat these people,” she added. “We had to win. Imagine if we hadn’t won — oh, don’t even imagine. So, as we go forward, we have to have the same approach.”

At 79 she needs to retire and let AOC take over. New Blood with some guts is what is needed!

AND YET SHE PERSISTED
In Reading Mueller Report Right To Mitch McConnell's Dumb Face

Y'all hear about the shit Mitch McConnell pulled this morning? He stood up on the Senate floor to deliver one of his trademark lie-filled hypocritical bullshit speeches, this time about the end of the Mueller investigation, and boy did he deliver! His mantra was "case closed," because he assumes (correctly) most Americans haven't read the Mueller Report, and don't know he's lying (incorrectly!) when he says it exonerated Donald Trump. He angrily shouted at Democrats for "relitigating 2016," because he says that's what the investigation is really about for those who lost, so we wouldn't have to "come to terms with the American people's choice" in the presidential race.

After McConnell shut his fucking yap, Chuck Schumer got up and corrected the record, reminding us how McConnell and his colleagues have spent the last several years actively aiding and abetting the Russian crimes against the United States.

But even better than what Schumer said in response to McConnell is what Senator Elizabeth Warren did, which was to spend 40 minutes on the Senate floor reading the Mueller Report into the record -- especially the good parts! -- and also reading aloud that awesome letter signed by approximately three million former prosecutors, which says that if Trump wasn't currently being protected by DoJ policy, he would have already been indicted for multiple felonies for obstruction of justice.

Among many of the things Warren said, there was this:

"If any other human being in this country had done what's documented in the Mueller report, they would be arrested and put in jail. The majority leader doesn't want us to consider the mountain of evidence against the president. That is wrong," she said.

Just like all those prosecutors said!

Liz/Bernie 2020, Kamala for AG!
