I used China as the bogeyman to TRY to explain that we the USA (or we the UN, or we the EU, etc.) do not have the right or authority to dictate to sovereign nations, how they act.

For all I know, China will spearhead the efforts to clean up our ecological act. I tend to doubt it, based on little things like the pollution they currently expel into the ocean from their rivers or the fact that Hong Kong has air you can pour out of a cup. But hey, they could clean up their act.

I know, ok, knew a girl in college. She was into drugs. (also sex!) She knew the drugs were dangerous and would eventually kill her but she kept on doing them and guess what... (note the past tense referring to her).

China, Russia and India each have the population and the wasteful, inefficient technology and energy needs that can destroy us (if the scarologists are right) or at the least make our lives miserable smelling HK across the ocean. And we have no rightful control over what they do until/unless they bring harm to us.
