It has been suggested that President Trump will make a State Visit to the UK in June when he comes to Europe for the D-Day anniversary.

There are many groups in the UK who will want to object.

But he is the representative of the US people and an ally of the UK. He should be welcomed not greeted by protests.

Maybe Her Majesty could hire him as the clown for her birthday party.

But he is the representative of the US people and an ally of the UK.

The second part of this statement is debatable. He is the elected representative of the US people but so far he has shown himself to be no ally of the UK. i.e. the pulling out of Syria with no notice or consultation with so-called allies. This despite the fact that the only reason we were there in the first place was to support the US.

He has placed illegal import tariffs on British steel which has increased the threat of closure of the Port Talbot plant.

In the UK he has diverted water courses to cut off the supply to the neighbours who refused to sell their property to his golf resort and attempted to halt our efforts of providing renewable energy from offshore wind farms.

I would say that we Brits have plenty of justification for protesting. I hope the American people realise that the protests are aimed at him as a person and not at the people as a whole.

Those of us who don't support him certainly understand that, anyway!

We’ll have to keep an eye on the weather for D-Day. I’d hate to see Trump rained out again.

Looks like England is Trump's bitch.

Trump and Theresa: two broken, unrepresentative leaders. Hope the Queen keeps her gilded pram in the garage

WOW! It is now just a question of time before the truth comes out, and when it does, it will be a beauty!

Here is a topic of discussion for the Royal Tea.

So far as I know, this is normal practise: UK spies on USA citizens on behalf of USA and vice versa. China and Russia spy on everyone

Russian assets are a legitimate investigation target for the CIA.

It was literally just yesterday when Buckingham Palace announced that the UK would welcome Trump in June with the formality of a state visit.

One day later, the American president had no qualms about accusing British officials of participating in a spying scheme against him, based on absurd claims he saw some random conspiracy theorist make on an obscure far-right outlet.

Trump was apparently watching the One America News Network (OANN), which is basically an even-more-extreme version of Fox News. This morning, it featured an interview with Larry Johnson, a far-right conspiracy theorist, perhaps best known for peddling claims about the “whitey tape” in 2008.

Leader of UK's Opposition snubs Trump Banquet

Jeremy Corbyn and the usual suspects will refuse to attend the state banquet as part of President Trump's State Visit:

No Og, Trump should be treated with meticulous courtesy and as if he smells like rotting fish.

Her Maj is expert at this - Remember she has entertained Idi Amin, Nicholai Ceausescu, sundry other murderous dictators. And that Italian creep Berlusconi. She even put up with Tony Blair for ten years.

Trump will be a piece of cake, she could punish the poor sod by getting him to golf with her second son for a day - after all he's the family golfer and all round jerk. They have much in common.

Except, of course, he didn't eat with any of these people There is a whole load of difference between appearing on the same platform and sitting down at a banquet with them. I expect better from you Ogg.

That is why I said 'biased news site'. :D

But there is considerable irritation at the discourtesy when other Heads of State have been treated better.

The British Government gives state visits to different leaders for different reasons It is almost exclusively to get something in return. They have even given one to Roger Mugabe. For American presidents, it is far from routine. The only reason Trump was offered a state visit was because mother Theresa needed an ally who would ease her Brexit deal. However, that was before the supreme court gave parliament back its sovereignty, and before the US ambassador made it clear that any trade deal would have to include hormone injected Beef, Chlorinated chicken and open access to the NHS contracts. Now our lame duck government can't lose face by withdrawing the invitation so hastily given.

Personally, I think it should go ahead but without the extreme suppression tactics the Met police used against demonstrators when President Xi was accorded the same courtesy. Their numbers are now so depleted that I doubt they could manage it without reducing anti-criminal operations. I don't think Corbyn attended that dinner either.

I wouldn't be surprised if there was an attempt on his life in the UK.

Jeremy Corbyn attended the state dinner for President Xi of China.
