Buttigieg

no, it can't. one thing that straight people all have in common is they hate fags, full stop.

Impressive guy in a lot of ways, and it's unfortunate that he doesn't have a realistic path forward in Indiana politics.

But I can't see myself supporting a 37-year-old whose main relevant experience is mayor of a small city over candidates with more traditional qualifications.

1)All straight people hate gays

2)All white people hate any person with a diffrent skin color

3)All reasonable, logical people hate brainless assholes

Guess which one is 100% true.

All of this. I'm looking forward to voting for him in 10+ years.

some of the names making a splash right now will be something to be reckoned with in the future, for sure. maybe even before 10 years. in the meantime, they're maturing, shaking up the 'oldies' of BOTH parties, and showing how the face of the dem party is more inclusive, more diverse, and holds more appeal to the younger generations.

Which is why, I'm sure, that nearly half of them have thrown their hats in the ring for 2020. They are looking for a 2028 run or a VP slot sooner, if they are lucky.

I still can wait on how the Dem side is going to shake out. I'd vote for nearly any of them over any Republican I can think of who might run. The Republicans are going to have to find a whole new batch. All of the current ones are tainted for not doing enough to oppose Trump/Pence. Romney had his chance to step up in opposition and rally traditional Republicans around him--and he hasn't done it.

Wait, don't you have to be 40 to be president or some bullshit like that?

Let's hope the Dems survive 2020 first. They barely made it through the mid term elections.

Go easy with the broad brush! Sleep with whoever makes you happy, as long as they are consenting adults.

Which, however, doesn't mean you'll be received real well yet in running for national office. Now if Trump were gay along with everything else he is in sexual behavior (and maybe he's bi), maybe that taboo would be broken.

*chuckle*

The fact that the press and political class are even taking Buttigieg’s candidacy seriously is a historic first. An openly gay candidate has never qualified for a presidential debate, let alone become president (the jury is still out on James Buchanan, but whatever his orientation, he wasn’t leading any Pride parades in 1857).

Yet some liberal voices are now discounting Buttigieg’s sexual orientation (“still a white man”), or at least diminishing the historic discrimination gays have faced as compared with women and people of color (“most of the time gender and race are way heavier burdens than sexual orientation in the professional and political environment,” and “there was a time when it was illegal for us to marry interracially, women and POC could not even own property but a gay white man could”). For those critics, his race and gender negate the little credit they accord him for being gay.

All of this seems like an attempt to write Buttigieg off as “just another white guy,” standing in the way of more diverse candidates. It’s the Oppression Olympics at its worst: In a battle to prove that one community is more discriminated against than another, we tear each other apart rather than unite in common cause.

I do think that there are many people who may not have an issue with a gay man, of course when he doesn't behave, in their eyes, the stereotypical flamboyant manner. Gains are still being made, but there are still ways to go.

The LGB community has come a long way with acceptance into the mainstream, especially with the younger generation, the T part is what many people have trouble in acceptance, including many inside and out of the community.

No one plays faux victims better than the alt-right males. How are they going to whine about being oppressed when they enjoy the privileges of society? You have turned into a troll. It's past your nap time, dear.
