Was for but only for leaving the political mess that the EU was (and is) in. I didn't want to leave Europe or stop free trade with Europe even if that meant accepting freedom of movement.

What the UK joined was very different and has been changed significantly by the Maastricht agreement.

What I wanted was the EU to change. It was obvious when they sent David Cameron away with nothing that they had no interest in addressing the democratic lack within the EU, nor the power of the unelected elite despite rumblings of discontent across Europe.

We couldn't change the EU from within. I thought that a substantial vote for Brexit might make the EU think again and change. They didn't, haven't and appear to show no interest in doing anything but overriding democracy in every EU country.

I see the UK as leaving a doomed sinking EU ship that might stay afloat for a few years but will eventually sink - unless they do substantial repairs.

The EU is drilling the holes by ignoring democratic movements against central control in many EU countries including in Germany.

The Germans are fed up with supporting the Euro and being the major funder of the EU. If the UK leaves, even if they pay £39 billion to the EU, the EU's finances will take a major hit. The EU is planning to spend even more. Where will the money come from?

Honestly, ogg, I was never for the UK joining the EU. It sounded like a great deal at the time, but I felt like the EU suckered a lot of countries in and the promises weren’t what they seem.
