Mass shootings in New Zealand mosques

What is missing imo, is an honest acknowledgment that extremism is on the rise on both sides - the Commonwealth far Right and Commonwealth radicalized Muslims. And that the far Left too, is adding fuel to the fire.

Does anyone really think that when crazy Muslims all over the world go berserk and murder tens of thousands of people that crazy people on the other side aren't going to pop up and rack up a few for themselves?

How many terrorist attacks have occurred in America committed by Muslims since 9/11?

Sadly, this is the kind of American stupidity the Nutter brought to NZ. You're an embarassment.

True, the antecedent is clear.
I witnessed instances of racism, but before the Europe knife attacks and bombings, never did they cross the threshold from rude remarks or slurs and workplace bullying.

Also: I was thinking that the disservice that Fraser Anning has done to Australian Whites, is in a way similar to what those two Muslim senators did to the Muslim American community.

Anning made Australians look bad by blaming the shooting unilaterally on immigration.
Of course the two senators weren't as despicable as he was - but they only criticized Israel yet no expressed concern about ISIS or radicalized Muslims?

By contrast, that UK official of Indian origin left identity politics aside when blocking ISIS brides from returning to the UK.

No such thing as racism when its based on fact and personal experience.

When you have thousands of unwanted fuckers flowing into your country. And taking it over. You get resentment. And after while the amount of resentment hits a breaking point.

When a white guy shoots up a mosques its "horrible violence". When an Islamic blows up a church its "just another day in the middle east"

Why does everyone forget that Africans sold each other into slavery? Quite often for a gallon of rum, or a fucking hammer...

No.

though as I count Papa Bush and Dubya, if not quite mass murderers for the killing of 100 000 of Iraqis—most who are Muslims—and most of them Shiites—though there are secularists and Christians—then somewhat tantamount to mass murderers for killing people for little-or-no reason; and thus your score-of-sorts evens out.

(BotanyBoy and I somewhat debated the point a few pages earlier in this thread.)

something either a troll and/or someone very stupid would post.

Just thousands? Then I guess the US really doesn't have a problem.

+330 million Americans x 1% x 1% = +33 000

It's not that common—even in the Middle East and/or Muslim-majority countries—it's not another day, and it's possible that the Russian-back Assad government and Russians have destroyed more churches the past, say, 20 months.

Why does everyone forget that Africans sold each other into slavery? Quite often for a gallon of rum, or a fucking hammer...
and that justifies their transport in ships under conditions so bad, a significant fraction died in transit, then when they get to the US they are kept as slaves and their children are born slaves.

Don't you bigots think your statements through, or do you expect others to walk you through the points?

Again, either you're trolling and/or you're stupid.

Finally,

Why am I not too surprised that supposedly non-racist gun-lovers aren't advocating that those mosques should have had some guns so they could fire back at attackers (though I might have read the gun debates earlier in this thread a bit too lightly).

To be fair, though, our own Botany Boy has attempted to pivot the discussion to the shooting being blamed on "all white men".

He's made something of a career here as an apologist for both White Nationalism and White Privilege....especially now that AJ appears to be semi-retired.

I can't actually see anything he says, so I'm not aware of his attempts to do anything.

New Zealand is observing two minutes of silence at 1.32pm our time tomorrow (Friday here, but not everywhere), in case anyone care to join us.

So noted. If I was in New Zealand, I'd be tempted to go to a mosque this Friday—if they were okay with it—as defiance: perhaps even wear a bullseye—or something in Arabic.

Why only if in NZ? There are mosques all over the world and most would welcome someone who wanted to show respect for the victims.

A lot of women are wearing hijab, and there's a few mosques that will have 'human walls' of protection around them at the time. But I think Sal is right - I'm sure you'd be welcome at any mosque.

... and the gun ban law is announced. Link.

(Note - there has been some thoughts & prayers too, just to cover all the bases.)

I think we could all learn something from the way New Zealanders and their government have handled this appalling event.

In the UK we would have had newspapers espousing rhetoric similar to some of the GB posters and that has never done anyone any good.

It would be disingenuous to ignore the fact that there's been some of that here too, although not in the media, which has been pretty restrained and compassionate, by and large. In terms of the gun control issues, we're not, as a nation, especially wedded to the possession of fire arms (against, with a few exceptions). And the country's so small, that things like this have an immediately personal effect on a lot of people - I don't know anyone involved, but lots of people do. So that maybe puts a different slant on things.
I don't know ... a lot of us are feeling a bit numb and ineffectual, so it is good to see political leaders taking action of all sorts.

You're falling for image management.

While three quarters are doing it out of compassion and to make a stance in support of minorities & against racism,
the rest are doing it because the whole world is watching, and they want to look good.

NZers are indeed less racist and xenophobic than other countries, but NZ is not That much above the US, in terms of tense race relations.

Just google "racism nz" to see how many Asian immigrants came out of the woodworks, to relate their experiences Before the incident.

I'm guess you've missed the posts where I've commented on the way this has provoked a significant conversation about New Zealand's racism.

It wasn't a shot at you. This time. ;):)
You and Debbie are a NZers, it happened in your backyard, your guys' attitudes and emotions are genuine.
Neither at DeYaKen

I'm just entertained how, in this threads and in American massmedia, NZ has turned into a convenient instrument to poo poo on one's political adversaries or country.

I wasn't suggesting it was a 'shot at me' - just responding to your point.

I've been checking the internet for places, and unsurprisingly, it's failing.

Rings of Peace- Friday March 22
https://torontoboardofrabbis.org/

months earlier:
Muslims Surround Toronto Synagogues With Protective ‘Rings Of Peace’
https://www.huffingtonpost.ca/2018/11/03/rings-of-peace-toronto-synagogue-muslims_a_23579698/

Most of these are either downtown, outside Toronto proper, or strangely enough, the strip identified as somewhat Jewish (I think North York was Canada's 4th largest city at one point, and before amalgamation with Toronto had a Jewish mayor for over 20 years).

The thing is, it's less immediate here. The murders happened in Christchurch, not Toronto. Canada has almost 4x as many Muslims proportionally as New Zealand, and I'm sure it's even greater in Toronto, and thus I don't think the Muslims here are as fearful of gunmen. Our cops are armed and I meet a few who are also Muslim.

There are four mosques within 4 km where I live, and I've been inside two of them somewhat briefly years ago (ditto the Catholic, Anglican and Baptist churches within the same distance).

According to WP, Friday prayers are just after noon. Let's give it 15% that I'll spend 15 minutes in front of or just inside a mosque tomorrow.

You get what you deserve

A few facts about New Zealand PM Jacinda Ardern.
*She has never had a proper job
*She was an advisor to Tony Blair
*She was President of the International Union of Socialist Youth
*She is PM care of a coalition with the Greens
*She favours same sex marriage

A Grade One globalist!

Well, it’s pretty clear none of our GB gun fetishists will be moving to NZ any time soon.

Our local mosque is doing the opposite. It is inviting everyone in for Friday prayers tomorrow - short prayers followed by refreshments.

The little racist cretin pussy pic beggar (sure did) accused me and a few others of rejoicing when Muslims kill Jews.

I would like for him to post an example of where I personally gloated over Muslims killing Jews.

Waiting for the rabid creature to post this evidence, or else he is dismissed as just another attention-seeking dolt. Where did he go? Hopefully he popped a blood vessel. I'm with another poster, let his kids and wife have his money

Classic Deplorable trash.

I'm a tad confused on this one.
They won't say what kind of gun was used in this horrible attack except to say that a semi automatic rifle May have been used, but they know exactly what guns they are going to ban.

Just sounds a bit fishy to me
