Replacing old stories with updated versions.

Hello, I recently re-edited several of my stories for release as Amazon Ebooks, and I'd like to reupload those same improved editions to Literotica, but I'm having some issues.

It was my understanding that to replace an existing story, one has to upload a new story and leave instructions for the moderator asking for it to replace an old one. However, when I attempted this with my story 'Pinwheel', the remastered version was added as a separate upload rather than replacing the outdated version.

Is there some other way to accomplish this that I'm not seeing? I really want to avoid a situation where I have two versions of all of my stories available, as that will cause a lot of confusion for readers.

Open the improved versions, and append a notation such as *EDIT* to the title of them. Use the same title as the original story/chapter with the notation. If you wish to modify titles, take care of that as noted below.

If the title is too long to simply add the notation, backspace as much as is necessary to include it.

In the Moderator Notes section of the submission form for the new versions, detail which story you're modifying, and what you're modifying. Here is where you can change the title, keywords, description line, etc. if you need to do so. Story text modifications should be placed in the story text section, and should be the entire edited manuscript for the story/chapter, not just the modified sections.

Personally, I include the unique portion of the url for the existing story I'm editing in the moderator section, just so it's absolutely clear which submission the new one is meant to replace.

Once everything is to your satisfaction, scroll down to the bottom of the submission form and click preview, then scroll to the bottom of the preview and click submit.

Once an edit is processed, it will replace the original version. It will not appear on any new story list again. The votes, comments, and favorites will remain as they were before the change. The only thing modified will be what you asked to be modified.

Keep in mind that it typically takes around 24 hours after the edit submission is processed for the changes to appear to the public. ( including you ) It can take as much as 48 hours, but I typically have seen the changes begin to appear at just shy of the 24 hour mark.

Not all of your requested changes may appear at the same time, either. If the story is multi-page, the first page may update, while the second page remains the old version briefly. Everything should sync back up in short order once the process is underway.

Hi, thank you for your reply, RejectReality.

I was pretty clear about wanting the story to replace an old one in the moderator notes box. I linked to the story that I would like to replace, as you suggest, and I was very explicit about the upload being an edit. I did not, however, add *EDIT* to the title of the story. Is that step absolutely necessary? I feel like the instructions that I left were ignored and so I'm a bit hesitant to try again before I can be sure that it will work correctly.
If adding *EDIT* to the title will do the trick, then I'll try again with the next story.

Yes, you've got to wave a big flag with EDIT in the title.
