Declining ice, if happening, not really harming bear populations.

POLAR BEARS MAY HAVE QUADRUPLED IN NUMBER DESPITE MELTING ARCTIC ICE, BOOK SAYS

Polar bear numbers may have quadrupled in the last 50 years, according to a new book critiquing the alarmist predictions of polar bear population collapse.

“My scientific estimates make perfect sense and they tally with what the Inuit and other Arctic residents are seeing on the ground,” Susan Crockford, a Canadian zoologist, said in a statement Tuesday on her book’s release.

Crockford’s book, “The Polar Bear Catastrophe That Never Happened,” argues that, in contrast to the dire predictions made by experts over a decade ago, polar bears are thriving. In fact, she argues polar populations may have quadrupled since the 1960s from roughly 10,000 to 40,000.

“Almost everywhere polar bears come into contact with people, they are much more common than they used to be. It’s a wonderful conservation success story,” said Crockford, who’s also an adjunct professor at the University of Victoria in British Columbia.

Crockford, through her personal blog, has criticized those dire predictions. Crockford says polar bear populations have risen or stabilized in the last 15 years or so despite the fact that sea ice levels declined faster than experts predicted.

This would be the same Susan Crockford that is on the payroll of The Heartland Institute?

there's no argument from the author about the polar ice melting; in fact she states it's melting even faster than predicted.

as for the polar bears, i'm happy they are surviving. hopefully the increased numbers are due to their adaptation and not the fact a widespread, frequently 'not visible' population is being forced into a smaller geographical area, closer to people and more likely to become victims of a predator species moving in on the territory of another.

i'd never heard of her. is she book so skewed as to be irrelevant?

they swim more because there's less ice. is that supposed to be a good thing?

This would be the same Sean who says one brake line goes to each wheel?

Where do you think they go to, Little Lance, the windscreen washers?

Unlike you, I don't think I know where they go, I actually know where they go.

But, please, astound us more with your thinking and tell us exactly where on each wheel brake lines go.

The correct answer is to simply admit you're entirely wrong, that brake lines don't go to wheels at all.

But, you've always been much more enamoured with being viewed as knowledgeable by others than actually being as knowledgeable as moi, your superior, Little Lance.

C'est la vie.

If the polar bear population has gone up in the last few decades, and there seems to be some dispute about this, it's because of increased restrictions on their hunting (the quote in the article even calls it a "conservation success story").

But a loss of habitat always leads to shrinking animal populations eventually.

Little Lance, you've repeatedly proved you know bugger all about anything.

How the fuck does anyone find this article? OP how did you come across this? Are you a huge polar bear fan? Thy're cool so I get that. Dumb article though. Otherwise... what are you attempting to accomplish by posting this?

The requisite, learned, erudite response:

How stupid can you be?
Of course there are fewer polar bears!

It only looks like there are more, because we're looking for them now...

Are you fucking stupid or just a reactionary, rabid, running dog right-winger???

I think we should be more accepting of his Bear kink. It's not that uncommon amongst his peers.

Or maybe he's a Globalist and is in favor of retraining bears for careers in the New Economy once the ice moves to Mexico.

Bears might be easier to understand on the phone than help desk personnel in India, for example.

I’ve got a new running gag for you😂 Do you think triple(666) is pretending to be a Satanist?

Jizzlips has his own problems. None of which are where he pretends to be a creepy stalker.

Sean's creepiness wasn't about his repeated asking of the question. It was his attempt at using fear and intimidation to force someone to do what he wanted. That's a personality flaw so deep it cannot be reconciled with anything on this forum.

I was a bit curious about the book being referenced by Daily Caller. It's called "The Polar Bear Catastrophe That Never Happened." It's published by The Global Warming Policy Foundation, which is a lobby group. You can download it for your Kindle on Amazon. Good luck finding a print edition.

Crockford herself is a global warming denier, and has been criticized by the scientific community at large.

In other words, nothing to see here.
