My son has mental health issues, he generally is ok, but has rare manic episodes as well as depression. His depressions can last up to 10 days or so. We all know his triggers and try to avoid them as best we can, but we can’t hide the anniversary of the death of his granddad which happened a couple of days after my sons birthday. Ever since then he refuses to celebrate his birthday. He is better now he has his own children, but no one mentions birthday on or around that day, even his kids.

I understand some of what you are going through and it’s not nice to cope with. You have friends here who will support you where we can so you are not entirely on your own.

That perty well sums it up. I hate this shit soooo much.

Living like this isn't living it's existing, the daily struggle is real.
By the time you put in 8 or 10 hours at work like this, your fucking exhausted.
Next you try to unwind when you get home, then after that, try to keep the demons at bay after dark and thru the night before it all starts again the next day.
Some people feel sad with depression some feel different to the too, I don't feel sad, I never feel felt sad, I just don't feel anything, It's kind of like being numb.

Some days are worse than others, sometimes you get a message, you hear something good, or maybe you get a compliment, that makes your day and breaks the daily cycle.
What's the answer fucked if I know, I've tried most things.
