Isolated Blurt Thread Again

I'm an oldie too and my AV has been almost constant.

Even my alt is an oldie. :)

I try to stay off cycles of all sorts. I don't heal as fast as I used to. ;)

How have you and yours been?

Good days and bad. Lately, things are better. Long term, things are looking up.

What about you?

Old books

I recently quoted from a new acquisition:

http://forum.literotica.com/showpost.php?p=90502611&postcount=46

But I have been looking through some other old books I own including Horace's Odes published 1636 which has a translation into English as well.

My oldest book currently is a religious pamphlet in Latin on the proper way to prepare for confession. It is a slim and small book but is in wonderful condition - published

Anno 1562. Die 20.
Mensis Augusti

(20 August 1562)

It has contemporary underlinings and manuscript notes in miniscule Latin.

It is difficult to read because it is in medieval Church Latin, not the classical Latin I studied many decades ago, but I like trying to read something that old.

How do you date?

I was engaged to a guy I was with for 6 years. Rolled straight into the 6 year relationship with my girlfriend. We broke up last month. I'm not saying I'm ready today to get back in the saddle, but both relationships just kind of happened.
I dont know how to date lol.

And maybe I watch too many murder shows...but I seem to have an unreasonable fear of being chopped up into little pieces and put into a trunk. Do you see my dilemma?

What is this dating you speak of? Like you my relationships just seemed to have happened. No plan, no thought as to the chase, so to speak. Just one day it wasn't and the next it was.

Yes, you watch to many murder shows if you see chopped up and put in a truck as the end of a date. :D Snuggled up under a soft blanket in a nice warm bed is more the aim, isn't it?

I spend more time finding ways to get out of social invitations than I do going to them.
I hate going but it's worse to not be invited you know?

Sable

I recently came across a new acronym - SABLE.

It is "Stuff Accumulated Beyond Life Expectancy" i.e. things you've got that you are never likely to live long enough to use.

I have several sets of collected items that SABLE covers - CDs I'll never listen to, DVDs I'll never watch, and other things.

My massive library is not SABLE. I read so many books a week that my library is well used. It contains many books that I cannot borrow from my local library, or find as a digital download. While there might be too many dated reference books the turnover of those is frequent as I give hundreds of books away to charity outlets every month.

My collection of tools is partly SABLE because I cannot use many of them now, but a friend who helps out with DIY tasks can. I have given him some of the duplicates but for example I have several sets of spanners - AF, Metric, Whitworth and BA. Do I need 10 spanners for 12 mm? Or 6 for Whitworth 1/2 inch? Two of each should be ample, or maybe two open and two ring.

Have you got any SABLE collections?

Hardest thing I've written since My Fall and Rise.

Taking a deep breath seeing Pending turn to New.

Aw, shit— something else to look forward to:

by Patti Neighmond
(NPR)

"...for the average adult, the ability to process oxygen ("VO2 max") declines by about 10 percent per decade after age 30...

..."It's kind of a slow decay over time that's probably not so noticeable in your 30s or 40s," says Trappe, but eventually as years go on, becomes apparent. People can get out of breath more easily and may have difficulty pushing themselves physically.

The age-related reduction in VO2 max is directly associated with an increasing risk of multiple chronic diseases, mortality and loss of independence. Maintaining a strong heart and lung system has been shown to decrease these health risks.

As for muscle health, the findings were even more significant, says Trappe. Trappe says researchers were surprised to find the 75-year-old muscles of lifelong exercisers were about the same as the muscles of the 25-year-olds..."

Translation:

Age..........VO2 Max %
30.............100%
40.............. 90
50.............. 80
60.............. 70
70.............. 60
80.............. 50
90.............. 40

I'm not a religious man but I'm currently asking the deities to help keep me from flaming a cyber bully. I know in my head that they feed on attention and I should ignore and move on buuut the combat sports side of me wants to engage.

I'm pretty sure the head will prevail especially since venting here :D

How many others eel the same as you?
Perhaps a collective 'push off' might be considered beneficial ?

I've just submitted the final part of my only incomplete story. The missing part has been nagging at me - for NINE years! That wasn't the worst. Readers have had to wait 13 years for me to finish one story.

Although there are sequels outstanding I have now posted (or submitted) complete stories.

Normally in March we are battling slugs and snails in our garden.

February was so mild that our resident hedgehog ended hibernation early and is now looking fat and contented.

By today we saw another reason - a large sleek toad. The snails and slugs now run the gauntlet of two predators.

Our plants are getting a head start, well protected.

The full moon just past is the "Worm Moon," since it tends to be the time of thaw in the Northeast, and the earthworms come out of the saturated ground to avoid drowning.
