I have a story I started that I'm stuck on. Perhaps someone here can give me a nudge.

Guy with a large extended family hooks up with a girl at college (and as a sidebar, her sister gets involved too). They go out several times casually, and he finds himself falling for her. He then goes home for the holidays and discovers that they are first cousins.

The story is written from his perspective, and he is struggles with the incest. I have him getting back to her place, wanting to talk to her and struggling with if and how to tell her.

I'm about 6,000 words in at this point & I still have to go back and write most of the actual sex scenes, so it isn't super long, but not short enough where I'd feel good just scrapping it either. I don't want to give up, but it has been close to 6 weeks and I just can't seem to find the next step.

I was hoping putting this out there and perhaps getting some random comments might give me the spark to continue.

Thanks kids.

He finally works up the nerve to tell her that they are cousins and that they have to stop seeing each other. But she tells him she knew it all along, in fact that's what attracted her to him in the first place. She has a total incest fetish. Her plan is to seduce him into the incest lifestyle. She even brings his own sister into the mix and coaches/forces him to fuck her. Eventually he comes around and becomes an incest addict as well.

First cousins are barely incest. Cousin marriage was and is common in much of the world -- ask Poe, Darwin, Einstein, Giuliani, etc. You can get closer with double cousins, whose parents are siblings -- the lovers learn their fathers are brothers and their mothers are sisters. Now they share as much DNA as avuncular (uncle-niece or aunt-nephew) kin.

But even avuncular marriage is common in many places. Better to make the lovers half-siblings with the same randy father but different mothers. Or they're adopted-out twins. NOW you've got incest!

Well you could have it devolve into a battle for recognition to get a marriage license or something official. Or you could start a search for a jurisdiction that will allow them to marry or have the extended family come down on them for what they're doing or???

The extended family thing could turn into a real drama piece with some supporting and some horrified. :)

or he/she has an evil twin that???

Marriage is arranged and the minister find out at the altar they're first cousins and refused to continue the ceremony.

My partner's parents were cousins. Their grandfather said their kids would be idiots with tails and webbed fingers and toes. Wrong. Quite wrong.

Jurisdiction in USA?. A crime in five states; disallowed in 25 states; legal in 20 states, including the most populous. So that's no problem so long as they aren't Texans. Of course they could just slip over to New Mexico.

While it may be legal, I can still appreciate someone struggling with it. However, there seem to be several leaps in the story. Given the number of aunts and uncles, I can appreciate 2 cousins not knowing one another, people move, there was a fight between siblings, etc. But their last names and where they are from would be known and you would think questions would be asked. Oh, you are a Wilson from St. Louis, my mother's name was Wilson and she was from St. Louis too, I wonder if we are related...

As well, given the cousin relationships really aren't seen as such an issue, I can't imagine the protagonists would be so troubled as to deny their true feelings over it. Unless, there was a fight between siblings, or one was disowned by the grandfather, moved away, and now the grandfather, or father, puts his foot down and tells the boy he will be disowned if he continues the relationship.

Or is it the sister who is putting a guilt trip on him, that he can't fall in love with his own cousin - but is it out of jealousy??? Maybe she wants her own brother, or maybe she is actually falling in love with the cousin too and wants her for herself, or figures she can't have her, neither can her brother.

How about grandpa left them all millions if they were married by age xx? otherwise it reverts to the existing (greedy) children that are married.

But it can't be a marriage of convenience and all the greedy married kids are claiming they're just getting married as a convenience to claim the money.

Cue blood sucking lawyer type.... and gobs of family drama.

Update.

I got another 3500 or so words in tonight and got past that hurdle. Thanks for discussing it folks. I can't say I used any of the suggestions, but they got me thinking about some different angles and details, which was what I needed.

I figure another couple thousand words of story line should do it, and then go back and write the meat of the various sex scenes, (I always write those last because I struggle with them so much. I almost want to sub-contract that part out) and I'll be ready to have it edited.

If you want help editing or writing the nasty bits, feel free to hit me up. We play in the same playground and I like your stuff. I won't claim to be an expert but I am brutally honest ;)

When I get a block l8ke that I either shelve it for a while, start another story and come back to it or pull up the story and just start editing i5 from the beginning, rewriting and adding to it, that usually forces me past or around the block.

If you're still stuck, add the fact the guy is married, and when his wife discovers he's spending time with two women, he can tell her, "Oh, those are my cousins." ;-)

They are alone together, he's trying to tell her, but he needs liquid courage and they begin to take shots. Inhibitions lower and they finally do the deed buzzed.

They're Traditional Mormons. A guy beds and weds three gals and finds they're all cousins. Do they bribe the local bishop?
