Here we go again and the theme is open for interpretation, I am thinking creepy crawlies but I'm sure there are other ways you can make it fit.

No minimum or maximum word length. Today is Monday, this challenge will last until Sunday midnight, your local time (honer system folks ).
Last one in has the privilege, should they accept it, to start the next challenge thread, choose the title and determine conditions.

I've had six legs in a bed before, still good for an eight leg challenge. :cattail:
great conditions, hence my first poem.

Had 8 as well but it was a little strange and we broke off into pairs anyway...

Mathematics

Two men one on one,
minus one woman,
watching, one of
one on one didn't
like it, so became
one in one in woman. ;)

a multiplicity of legs

just think of all the shoes you'd need
and then there's tying laces
so busy looking at your feet
you'd not be heading places

a certain sense of rhythm may
prevent you from entangling
legs three and seven, shall we say,
your gait from awesome mangling

it's just as well the centipede
is so close to the ground
if it should stumble and stampede
there's not much falling down

Ha ha, you nearly stole my thunder there as you'll see when I finish it :)

Tiny legs, walking on my memory,
white clover yards abuzz, drone, zip,
careful barefoot steps,
sometimes not so exact,
ouch.

The woods were heavy then,
old growth, wild,
beautiful across the open pasture.

Fence lines a study in color,
trumpet vines, honeysuckle,
all busy through the warm months

There was a year, never forgotten,
where the scent was so heavy,
intoxicating in its strength,
a lure cast over fields
from an ancient Hackberry,
hollowed, broken, standing yet,
bastion of an ancient hive,
plundered while I was away,
all those many years,
never forgotten, and perhaps
never seen again.

Malificent the Millipede
meanders on her way,
never slipping, rarely skipping,
trundling makes her day.
When your bod is sectioned off
with feet at every corner,
The first set gets to Kathmandu
when the back are stuck in Georgia.

my spiders

my spiders

(1)

men excitedly talk about getting lucky

men? lucky?

it's my 8-legged male friends
the moment they are done
they get the hell out of Dodge

the male spiders run fast
it's spooky

c'mon
the small fellows
walk all over me when i am in bed
i said -- walk -- not run

females can be as fast
but they hardly ever leave their webs
i make sure not to disturb them
we have soulful conversations
free
word-free
full of silence

(2)

the first time my woman visited me
i asked hopefully did i do good job
cleaning my apartment

she said yes
for a man

(3)

then the woman was gone
and my friends were gone
only the most faithful friend reappeared
wobbly in the shower
she didn't want to know me anymore
a few more days
and she too was dead

friends come and go like the waves of the ocean...
but the true ones stay like an octopus on your face

Look for me in the deep
Curled around galloping gertie
Hunting for you, my love
Large opalescent eyes
capture every glimmer
piercing the depths

eight legs forever in motion
reaching stretching needing
blue blood courses
for the red hot blood in you

meet me in the ocean luv
where the waves will drown our fears
I will be your octopus
Wrapped round you
Legs here there and everywhere
Under the stars
Beneath the sea
An octopus on your face

Cascadiabound, very nice!

And you're right, "Six legs or more" doesn't have to stand for cockroaches and similar local anti-poetic creatures, it may mean something different than what we have here a lot, it may stand for something as beautiful and intelligent as octopuses.

eight mirror octopus
waves of images and salt
your one smile and the ocean
lightens up

Valhalla

The battle rages across the hoarfrost
Mighty warriors with hair of wild gold
Sing their songs as they strive and slay
Their courage and prowess in battle
Growls and screams like glaciers in the wind
Under the Northern lights of old
Fending off the Frost Giants so it is told
Told to the children in long tales of hero worship
Their blood stains brightly across the virgin snow
Deep in the frozen wastes in the land of the gods

Twilight and all is silent
Even the wind barely whispers
There will be no sun in the Arctic cold today
Only frozen death on the battlefield
Broken swords and cloven helms
Broken bodies and a prideful death
These warriors now patiently await their doom
The eerie glow returns as night falls
And the clouds open to a bright light
Riding through and across the sky
The Valkyries ride and sing on their winged steeds
Their master and king with his great spear Gungnir
One-eyed Odin points and proclaims of who will rise
And join him and his host in Valhalla
To be with him on the last day, Ragnarok
His mighty eight-legged steed Sleipnir rears
And thunder crashes spectacularly against the sky
As Valkyries return with their many charges

I lay their bleeding and moaning in the dark
Slashes across my body and a hammer against my temples
And the clouds snap shut
It is not my day for the halls of Valhalla
Not yet, and I live, will live
Mightily and well in a brave world
Of warriors and songs and all our people
Who face the darkness together
With hopes that our bravery against a cruel land
Be noticed by the All Father and his shining host
In this world and the next, Valhalla
