Cuomo slams Ocasio-Cortez, others, as Amazon ditches New York

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo lambasted politicians such as Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and others over Amazon's decision to leave New York City. Opponents of the deal with the tech giant had "put their own narrow political interests above their community," he said.

"[A] small group [of] politicians put their own narrow political interests above their community -- which poll after poll showed overwhelmingly supported bringing Amazon to Long Island City -- the state's economic future and the best interests of the people of this state," Cuomo said in the statement, which did not mention Ocasio-Cortez or other lawmakers by name. "The New York State Senate has done tremendous damage. They should be held accountable for this lost economic opportunity."

The number of citizens enslaved by his government is staggering. The disparity in his support is remarkable. No one supports him north of Westchester. The whole friggin state except for one tiny corner. He was responsible for the housing collapse as Clinton's Secretary of HUD. He really needs to take a look in the mirror and do everyone a favor and quit. Now his state is getting reamed because they can't deduct their exorbitant state taxes. Right after AOC got elected, she had to disavow one of her campaign volunteers who made some comments about "greedy Jewish landlords". Damn he was right, AOC did cause an "economic holocaust" in NY.

It's kinda amazing how AOC is so stupid that she thought the 3 billion in tax breaks was actual money that NYC had laying around. When the reality is that instead of Amazon paying 10 billion in taxes that first year, they would only have had to pay 7 billion dollars.
But now New York gets ZERO tax dollars from Amazon.

Also, those 25,000 jobs that would have been created had an average salary of $150,000. The taxes the State would have generated over the next 25 years from those employees would have been 27.5 billion dollars.
But now New York gets ZERO tax dollars from that as well.

And to top it off, all those local businesses and restaurants that would have gotten a nice financial bump due to those 25,000 Amazon employees working nearby are no longer going to get that nice bump to their bottom lines because those 25,000 jobs are going to another state that is not a socialist wonderland.

It's the press and AOC herself that's making this about her. She, and her antics, have made her the figurehead scapegoat for this drama. While the reality is that she had little to do with the overall background tapestry that led Amazon to make the decision they did, she IS the most visible and outspoken proponent of the policies and attitudes that drove the decision. She has made herself the ideological darling of the anti-business crowd and in so doing is deserving of the heat.
