Are "MAGA" hats a symbol of hatred?

Ha. True. Let me rephrase my request to jp.

At the time when Trump first used the MAGA slogan, can you name a period in the history of our country when America was greater, for anyone other than a white person?

If you've forgotten, my question was in response to this statement of yours:

Make America Great Again... does not mean make america white again. It's a signal for unity and prosperity, it's what good leaders do.

Oh, yes! This! I mean like that one time a rabid mob formed in Charlottesville and someone attacked people in the street with their car, killing one girl and injuring others.

Oh wait...........

The first attack there was a mob attacking a group of peaceful demonstrators.

I don't know why, but I DIED laughing at that visual. He was looking pitiful, huh?

LMAO

I would have laughed my ass off at the sight of him.

I will never forget it. Dude was cornball as fuuuuuck. Wearing basic flood jeans and grimy sneakers, attempting some blipster image. He was holding up a platform column with one leg cocked up against it, staring off into the distance trying to represent a statement but really looked like he knew he looked like a lonely fool and didn't want to look at anyone. :D

Cool. So we are in agreement. One was an angry mob and one was a group of peaceful demonstrators. Unless you're saying Heather Heyer assaulted the driver's car and died as a result of her attack on the car.....because that would be ludicrous.

That's why I specified "The first attack." Antifa and others attacked a crowd of peaceful demonstrators, who fought back. I don't know if HH was involved in this attack or not. She did not attack the car that ran her over, but some of her cohorts did, and I have seen videotapes of this and read eye-witness accounts.

Might wanna link to those tapes and accounts, just so it doesn't sound like subjective anecdotal jazz-handing of wishful thinking, ey. ;)

OMG, I saw video too!!! So that’s what all those people were doing...attacking a car. Did these cohorts of hers attack the car before, during, or after the driver decided to drive through them?

And off topic, but did you ever have a career as a DJ? I mean, you had to. Don’t be modest. That has to be how you learned to spin the record. It’s a talent, for sure. I think I had the Leslie Gore album when I was a kid, but there isn’t much you can do with “Its My Party” or “Judy’s Turn to Cry.”

And that folks, is what MAGAhat heads consider a news source.

"Department Of Memes."

not a news source.

okay.

I know Ir's not a news source, but that videotape shows the attack.

Also interesting: The court appointed a prosecutor as defense attorney:http://www.nbc29.com/story/36149724...-attorney-appointed-to-represent-james-fields

Personally, I think she sabotaged his defense by not bringing up facts such as this. She concentrated, instead, on people saying he "felt bad" about the death of the woman who was killed.

Candi would probably be helpful in a discussion like this, about the sociology of symbols, and what the markers are for a thing to be a symbol. But, yeah, I tend to agree. MAGA hats are probably comparable to the Confederate flag, morally speaking.

I did a vanity search and this came up and I know this is long past the point where anyone would give a shit about it, but the "confederate" flag that we see today wasn't used by the confederacy during the war and is just racist nonsense. The confederacy didn't have a unified flag, they had a bunch of ever-changing symbols because their whole rebellion was honestly kinda poorly thought out and not planned well. Their whole thing was that the temporary alliance was going to fall apart into individual states afterwards anyway so there wasn't really a need to have a unifying symbol. Among the flags that WERE used by the confederacy were:

A bunch of variations of this one with different numbers of stars because no one had their shit together and they changed it like once a week based on what-the-fuck-ever.

This one with a bunch of white space on it for no goddamn reason that was objectively awful from a design standpoint, and is where people get the stars & bars symbolism

Then somebody was all, "Hey all that white space makes it looks like a truce flag. We need to change that." So you're thinking they used the stars & bars you're familiar with, like a somebody what has some sense, right? Well then you went and forgot who were were talking about, because these were the folks who thought it was ok to pretend to own actual human people, not folks with sense. Nope. Just added a big red stripe.

Then in 1865, you know, the tail fucking end when it wouldn't fucking matter, they got together and were like, "Guys our flags fucking suck. We really need to get our shit together because a bag of flour is like $300 and I don't know about the rest of you but I'm hallucinating something awful from the infection where they come in and cut my leg off, so I'm of a mind we just say fuck it, cut off the white part and just use that itty bitty part because fuck it we're fucked we're fucked we all know we done fucked up we don't really give a shit at this point, right? Like we're done?"

And everybody was like, "Yeah we're done, fuck it".

And then they didn't get a chance to fly it in battle because they lost bigger than hell.

So if it really was about preserving history, or states rights, or anything that made any goddamn sense, we'd use LITERALLY ANY OTHER FLAG BUT THE STARS AND BARS BECAUSE IT WAS A GODDAMN AFTERTHOUGHT WITH NO HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE.

It's ONLY use EVER has been by racist rednecks to justify dumbassery and print on their good nascar shirt.

Edit: Also, this exists. I guess for those awkward situations where your cousin is super hot, but also you're both dudes.

^^ Get past all the unnecessary uneducated backwoods redneck language in that diatribe and there are a couple of almost correct words.

The orange hate rag used today and the one pictured on a couple of those flags was the Battle flag of the Army of Northern Virginia. I'm not really sure why it was ever associated with the CSA as a whole or adopted by some NASCAR drivers and others. But I'm not sure even they use it any more.

Wow we really have run out of shit to make fun of now, haven't we? We're calling folk's dialects "uneducated backwoods redneck language". We're on some Hollywood in 1963 shit.

I haven't read much of this thread. Has anyone brought up this point yet?

If a MAGA hat wearer got beat-up for wearing a MAGA hat. Would the left tell them that wearing that hat is dangerous, and that the MAGA hat wearer was asking for it?

Like when a women who is dressed like a whore gets raped.
