Does anyone else like softcore pornography, the type of sex scenes that you get on tv or Hollywood movies, that are simulated and not too explicit, or actual sex porn that has been edited in such a way that you don't see genitalia or penetration?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not completely averse to the hard stuff from time to time, but my preference is for milder erotica that is not too graphic.

I'm with you! For me though, it is the story, the context, the situation that brought the lovers together. I usually skip the actual sex scenes in most porn - just like the story and the process of getting into the sexual act. Which means softcore for me tends to be much more erotic as it revolves (usually) around a more developed story, with characters with personalities...

Soft core is great. I tire of the graphic stuff.

I have difficulty with the term. In the early days of ratings, "soft core porn" was indeed porn (i.e., heavy on the imagery and very, very light on the acting and plot— as in, virtually none at all) that was shot or edited carefully to avoid anything that might get it an X-rating. So if you liked good movies and/or if you liked real porn, soft-core was a bit like eating cotton candy or marshmallow fluff.

That said, I do like good movies that are also really, really sexy (unrated, usually). If that's what you're getting at, yes, count me in :)

I like soft porn from time to time as well. Where there’s more foreplay. Slow undressing bit by bit mand not see everything going on to leave something to your imagination. Your imagination can lead up to things being hotter from time to time.

Yeah, I'm with ya. From time to time I'd love to just watch a nice sexy movie. Decent plot, well shot, attractive cast, sexy situations.

Not that I have done an exhaustive search but most seem to be so dark. It's all so negative. Not softcore per se but Christian Bale's "American Psycho" and Michael Fassbender's "Shame" are examples. They are more likely to turn you off to sex than turn you on.

Sharon Stone's "Sliver" and Diane Lane's "Unfaithful" are better examples. As I recall, some of Shannon Tweed's movies in the 80's fit the bill.

(OK. Full confession. Am I the only one fixated on Jessica Chastain's chest all through "Molly's Game.")

I remember the sex scene at the start of Romancing The Stone having an effect on me when I was younger.

I used to really enjoy Nikki Fritz back in the late 90s, early 2000s. I’d consider her Skinnemax specials a gateway drug.

I agree sometimes I prefer my imagination to do the rest as opposed to blatant exposure. Think about picturing Ross doing Rachel in Friends and you may see what I mean.

The old "Emmanuelle" (spelling probably wrong) movies were good examples of that.

Red Shoes Diaries and Beverly Hills Bordello were examples on cable.

I love the 'payoff.' When you're totally engrossed in a good story, and turned on and curious as all hell what's going on...

and then you find out. I don't need a lot of explicit content, but when it comes, it's nice if it delivers.

When we watch porn together I want to see penetration and all the good stuff, but, I want to see it in a sensual and erotic way, not the yucky cheap nasty stuff that often passes for erotica these days.

Love It!

I can really get turned on just watching a couple making out, maybe he's in her pants fingering her. Then she's rubbing his bulge, then pulls out his cock to suck. Their still dressed, that's a huge turn on for me.

What I'm actually finding these days also is that I seem to have developed a quite short attention span, making me unable to sit through a porn clip that is even 5 or ten minutes long; I derive my porn pleasure with the instant hit of gifs and pics.

I hear ya, I watch a hot porn, and have to skip around and get to that hot talk scene. it's what their saying that gets me cumming, Sometimes It's a hot nasty wet slimy cum scene. I go right to those scenes.

Here's the way it works for me: the older I get (late 60s now) the more trouble I have with attention span. Even so, a good movie— interesting story line, well directed, well acted— can hold my attention easily. If sex is an important part of the story, and the film doesn't shy away from showing the details of the sex, all the better. But if the sex is just there because the director thinks that's the way to hold my interest, I'm done with it.

And if the point of the movie is sex, and story line and acting are just after-thoughts, then no matter how good they are they're not going to hold my interest.

Good photography, I love and always have. When it's about sex, I love that too. But good photography is all about artistic expression. I can enjoy photography that's just porn, for a minute or three, but I loose interest much more quickly. (You can see a bit of what I'm talking about on my blog.)

GIFs, with a very few exceptions, just annoy me. They don't look real, and the repetition makes me want to scream.

It's interesting that "soft core pornography" is almost an oxymoron anymore - if it is soft core, it probably isn't really pornography.

That is a good point, it is an oxymoron but everyone understands what is meant by "softcore pornography" we don't need to get hung up on semantics.

I don't care for the 'p' word at all and try not to use it. That's one the ultra stuck up rightey tighteys use as a derogatory term for erotica or adult entertainment.

So 'soft core erotica' would be a better term, but if it's any good, most won't be soft.

Totally agree. I have been guilty of using the term but I enjoy erotica so why should I refer to it in a derogatory manner.?
