Rep. Collin Peterson (D-Minn.) called on his Democratic colleagues to give President Trump the funding for his long-desired border wall between the U.S. and Mexico, saying its construction is inevitable.

“Give Trump the money,” Peterson told KFGO’s “News & Views” on Tuesday. “I’d give him the whole thing … and put strings on it so you make sure he puts the wall where it needs to be. Why are we fighting over this? We’re going to build that wall anyway, at some time.”

As long as he sticks to his position, eventually Trump will win and the D's will be seen as having caved.

Personally, I think a 4-year phased-in plan of amnesty for the DACA's is do-able if Trump gets the 2017 DREAM Act proposal of $25 Billion. But put strings on it. NO criminal history except for minor traffic infractions. Period. Those who don't qualify should self-deport because once it's inked and implemented, ICE will be coming for them.

I also think the chain migration issue should be taken up separately by Congress and not part of this bill.

The cracks are beginning to show. :)

Do you even know who Peterson is?

He's a Blue Dog Democrat that has voted with the Republicans quite a few times. And he has the perfect reason to: his district voted for Trump by something like a 30 point margin.

This isn't cracks beginning to show, you idiot; the man is doing the job he was sent by his district to do.

They can always slash funding for the WH establishment and servants. Trump wouldn't like that.

I will never cease to be amazed at the people here who speak with their mouths instead of their brains.

Any way that NotIshmael and Timmeh try to spin things, the underlying issue is Trump went from Mexico paying for a wall to not paying government employees until the American people pay for a wall

The Secure Fence Act of 2006

Obama, Clinton, Schumer and 23 other Democratic senators voted in favor of the act when it passed in the Senate by a vote of 80 to 19.

Originally, the act called on the Department of Homeland Security to install at least two layers of reinforced fencing along some stretches of the border. That was amended later, however, through the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2008, which got rid of the double-layer requirement.

Yes? And?

A fence is cheaper, and less environmentally destructive, and every bit as effective, as a wall.
