Are "MAGA" hats a symbol of hatred?

At the very kindest, misplaced pride.

But from what I can tell, from those I've seen in them, they are very angry and emotional people. Who seem to want some kind of revenge against liberals.

Yes, maybe not "hatred" per se (or "pair say", in Que-speak), but definitely the status symbol of an aggrieved majority.

"If only #ThosePeople would shut they mouth and know they role!"

I usually agree with your opinions on threads, but yo, I can't hang with you on this one.

The pink hats are backlash to the hatred and the misogyny pushed by this "leader" and his party. When one keeps poking someone with a stick, of course they are going to react!

Why is it when a group resists a belligerent power, some folks want to play the "both sides do it" game? It's so easy to be lackadaisical about hatred when one is not the target of the ire or has a loved one who happens to be included in that group.

I just mean some people see a pinkhat and get judgy others see a red MAGA hat and get judgy, so it is a wash and i was equivocating about that. I was not trying to say the judgements themselves or reasons for wearing one or the other are equivocal. As you point out - they are not.

The reactions of some, to clothing/symbols/slogans another might wear, is often a reflection of their own baggage. The opportunity for introspection is blithely rejected, in favor of a self-punishing, often violent, acting out.

^^^^^^
Faux-intellectualism is so embarrassing.

The symbolism of the MAGA hat doesn't rely on the beholder in any way. The symbol was introduced in a straightforward "in your face" way. It didn't ask for interpretation by anyone not wearing it. It was a direct statement.

good god, who is saying these people in your example are "your quote"?

Bad god. I have said and will continue to say the "humanitarian crisis" at the border is really a refugee crisis.

We care more about goddammed oil fields of arabia than our own back yard.

In a way, it's pure karma. We deal with the devil for black gold.

In return, we reap what we sow by harvesting the instruments of our own demise:

I feel it's our responsibility to welcome immigrants properly; allowing families to scamper across a freeway, is not a proper welcome.

No doubt the opium trade is a big player in politics. Personally I believe Uncle Sam's criminal minions in the CIA control the Afghan poppy fields.

Kinda like the Jewish fellas who get angry when they see someone wearing a swatstika, amirite? Zero introspection.

I rarely wear any logos or slogans on my clothing but that doesn't stop my daughters from buying them for me.

I have a Chicago Bears hat, a Russian submarine hat, an Australian Army hat, a Smokey Bear hat...

I don't wear hats except a cake on my head. :)

That's a good picture of an apparently completely unregulated welcome facility. We need a well regulated welcome facility. Let's call it a "gateway".

But jp!!! Left wing logic says the most totalitarian control constitutionally permissible is WONDERFUL!!!! Except with abortion and immigration....suddenly libertarian ideas are where it’s at when those topics are brought up.

Yes, I think any intelligent and conscientious person who knows a thing or two about history, can see that it is really a symbol of hatred. What does it mean to take our country back? From who? Who is "our"?

Actually, "Take our country back" was an Obama-era slogan.
