Trump’s Wall

Relative risk isn't a concept that you understand, then? I'm shocked at this revelation!

Do you think what you did was demonstrate relative risk? Really?

First of all you didn't in any way account for the sparse population along the border. Secondly you used States rather than cities, which would you give a little better idea where the hot spots are.

Third we're talking about a very specific risk the risk of interrupting illegal activity. There's a lot more illegal activity going on on the border than there are in other areas certainly relative to the population.

I guess they didn't teach you about analytical thought while you were getting your degree in rocket surgery malpractice defense.

Stats showing the decrease of emigration from Mexico to the United States and explaining the reasons:

Mexico Is Getting Better, and Fewer Mexicans Want to Leave
https://www.theatlantic.com/international/archive/2013/04/mexico-is-getting-better-and-fewer-mexicans-want-to-leave/275064/

"But in addition to the U.S. becoming a less attractive destination, part of the explanation for the drop is that prospects in Mexico are actually looking up.

Even though Mexico is clearly still struggling, there are signs that the country is gradually improving. Crime is down in border cities like Ciudad Juarez.
Mexico's fertility rate is falling and its population is aging, meaning there are fewer young workers scrambling for jobs (half of all Mexican immigrants are under age 33). For the first time in decades, Mexico has a fledgling middle class. Its GDP growth rivals Brazil's, and economically, some economists think the country is doing even better than the United States. According to the OECD, Mexicans are about as satisfied with their lives as people in Iceland or Ireland are."

"Many Americans worry about illegal immigration from Mexico. The country is actually gaining immigrants itself. The legal foreign-born population doubled from 2000 to 2010. It's now one million total. Of these, 750,000 are Americans. As a result, more Americans have immigrated to Mexico over the past few years than vice-versa. "

Yet another article on Mexican immigration to the United States:

"As Mexico’s economy improves, the lure of life in the US is fading fast"

Please pay attention to the graphs in the article.

"López is one of many Mexican would-be immigrants who are finding they can make do in their home country. Thanks to Mexico’s more robust economy, he can expect to have a better life in Mexico than the millions of fellow countrymen who crossed the border in previous decades. The average income in Mexico has vastly improved in the past decade, and so has the quality of life for many in the country. It’s easier to get an education than it once was, and there are more jobs on offer."

This is how immigration works!

As other nations are focusing on improving their economies, arriving to America is no longer so sexy.

His supporters are so hellbent on drowning in their racism and ignorance, with their mouths at his feet, that they don't bother to research simple inconvenient facts. They are too daft (or hateful) to understand this is all about HIM and his super ego!

They just keep on believing the world is out to get them, rightists tend to be extremely paranoid of the "other".

It is not an issue because it does not exist.

Like intelligent fact in majority of your posts.

Also, thinking about this...

Republicans will see enough failure by 2020 as a result of standing behind him previously that I think it's very unlikely he gets re-elected. Too bad for them that they won't be able to wash the stink off from having supported him. It'll linger for decades.

Just so happens the Convention for his "party" was near me & literally front-page news, so I recall this being discussed... How many GOP government people wanted to vote for others &/or against him at convention &/or general election?

One of the things I miss with people like McCain gone... So much talk about working/teaming "across the aisle", etc... Reminds me how almost every election I have voted in, they have asked me to write down what party I am, & yet here (in 2016 & since) is a case wherein I voted for neither Hilary nor DJT, & even after he got the spot (without winning the election), many in his own party want to speak &/or vote opposing him on things, including one that leads to him shutting-down the government (which I suspect he got from a fictional show set in DC that featured film of him & a government shutdown)!

President Trump has said former President Obama has a 10' wall around his current home as proof walls really work at keeping unwanted people out. So, Benny Johnson of The Daily Caller decided to find out if there actually is a 10' wall around former President Obama's property. Funny thing is Johnson couldn't even get close enough to see the ex-President's house, let alone any wall, because surrounding security is so vast you can't get near President Obama's home at all. While President Trump's Wall is allegedly to keep unwanted foreigners out, former President Obama security, wall or not, obviously does an excellent job of keeping unwanted Americans away from him.

I get the impression that President Trump isn’t a thinker, he’s more of a doer, and therefore requires a great team. And he SHOULD have the best. To help steer him in the right direction.

He should, but he picked the worst instead.

Lessee....believe some thing from Politia-bull....or believe what some of my friends in the CBP told me, and one showed me....

I can't decide.
What did you actually see? Would you know a Muslim prayer rug if you saw one? Would you know an Arabic Quran if you saw one? How do you know that they were left behind by folks entering the country?

The total length of the Southern continental border is 3,145 kilometers (1,954 mi).

How many miles is the perimeter of Obama's house? :p

"a humanitarian crisis is occurring on the southern border."

Pence told reporters he met with the Democratic congressional leaders’ senior staffers throughout the weekend and was told simply that they would not have a negotiation if the government remained partially closed. The vice president emphasized that President Donald Trump would not agree at this time to reopen the border without a comprehensive deal to end the government shutdown.

Pence told reporters that Democratic senior staffers accepted the administration’s premise that a humanitarian crisis is occurring on the southern border. Secretary of Homeland Security Nielsen ran through a series of slides documenting sexual abuse and human trafficking that is occurring in the midst of a Central-American migrant rush on the southern border.

Smart. Get all parties to admit a crisis does exist on the border and a President's constitutional power to then declare it a national crisis carries a heck of a lot of weight when that President opts to go military to build the wall over majority House objection.

Or the Russians and Ukrainians, Lebanese, Iraqis, Syrians.

The shame...

The Maginot Line would be a much better example.

Do you expect Mexican tanks are going to survive A-10s out of Davis Monthan?

Move the goalposts, much?

Under discussion is individuals easily defeating border control with ladders, not an invasion force.

When a war vet tells me it's a prayer rug, I believe him. He has seen many.
I have two english translations of the Quran. One has the same cover as what I saw.
No...why would I believe that it's from some Muslim trying to enter our country. It was probably left there from the Fuller Brush man, or the Avon lady.

You should question why many don't want to build a wall, or fence, or barrier, as much as you mock that do want one.
That, sadly, you won't do. You are but a useful idiot. A dogs dick.....going where you are pushed.

How do you know that?

Because of the lack of reports of widespread breaching of Israel's wall by Palestinians in that way. According to Emerson that's all you need to get over a wall so apparently the Palestinians haven't thought of it.

I remember that part.

Thank you for that. I get it now, I think.

May I ask you another question? How would you handle it? Would you assign a team of experts to assess what was required and go from there?

I would yes, but then again we are dealing with a mega egomaniac that has to be told he's the best and the smartest by everyone he surrounds himself with. This example has played out countless times in the last two years. He has people that know what the best approach is, but he refuses to listen and spews his vomit all over Twitter and fox News. There can't be experts in his little world, because he is an expert in everything and anything. Normal thinking and logic do not apply here.

There would only be reports if they got caught.

Hey, if you've got border property, you can build as tall a wall as you like on it. Then if anyone throws prayer rugs over it, you can sell them at the consignment store.

Really? Someone found a "prayer rug" in the middle of the desert and this = "Muslim invasion".

Who, oh who, would leave such "artifacts" to be prominently found and reported on?

By all means, this is all the "evidence" I need. Damn any more funding for Border Patrol. A wall will solve everything.
