Incoming Utah senator Mitt Romney is signaling separation from Trump (again) and making his move as he gets into place in the U.S. Senate. If he's smart, I think, he'll establish a new center for the Republicans and vote against Trumpism coming out of the blocks. And, I hope, take more Republican senators who are long overdue to try to save themselves with him.

Funny how Mutt didn't say any of this during his senate run,if he had he surely would have lost. Still spineless as he's always been.

Romney understood what he needed to do to get elected, but his recent statements represent the first step in the new Senate session to either reel Trump in or get rid of him.

Folks, don't be distracted by Trump's latest sideshow about the fucking wall. The real news happened when Trump capitulated to Russia and Turkey, right before the holiday break, along with the resignation and early ejection of the Secretary of Defense.

And those that supported his run see the turn coat he is and won't support him again.

As for sideshows the democrats have more then their fair share under the big top.

The View’s Meghan McCain says RNC attack on Romney is a harbinger for 2020 failure

Will Romney splinter the Republicans? Or, is he another Swamp Monster?

Wonkette has this figured out.
Mitt Romney Shall Maketh Grrr Sounds At The Villein!

To prepare for his debut as a real US senator tomorrow, Willard "Mitt" Romney published an op-ed in the Washington Post yesterday to declare, by golly, he objects to Donald Trump's churlishness, which has really brought shame to the party of tax cuts for the rich, demonizing the poor, and limiting racist rhetoric to polite dog-whistling. Truly, the senator-elect has assumed the mantle of ineffectual tut-tutting we always knew he would.

The op-ed is exactly the sort of toothless hand-wringing flutterpation we've gotten used to from Republicans who worry that Donald Trump is simply too crude to be the standard-bearer for the party of Fox News, oh, my, and isn't it a pity what we have come to after such an auspicious start:

:D

I think he is smartly positioning himself to inherit the GOP after Trump

which is basically what was said above

I'd rather he positioned himself while Trump is still around and give Republicans a choice of being less deplorable enablers.

Didn't he run for President against Trump, or at the very least, prior to Trump's campaign?!

IMO, it'd be hard to find a worst candidate than Trump (I thought the same thing in 2016), but I know Romney ran in one of those areas I asked about previously, & since I also know he won neither time, he needs to admit Senator may be best her personally can do.
