$24 Billion lost

Job growth cut by 120,000

Millions have their Winter holidays ruined.

Not everyone will be compensated, after the shutdown is over.

People who don’t work for the government at all can have their incomes yanked

Matthew Shapiro, professor of economics at the University of Michigan, did some of that research, and he says government contractors have it even worse.

“They get laid off,” Shapiro said. “Unlike government workers, they're often not reimbursed.”

Donald Trump became infamous because of lawsuits filed by people that worked for him.

He is utterly indifferent, about what happens to flesh and blood Americans.

Sadly, it is win/ win for Trump.
Government shutdown is a government slowdown.

It allows The Blithering, Blundering, Orange Ignoramus to tip-toe away from inconvenient truths, for the moment.

Donald "Cadet Fake Bone Spurs" Trump flew away from the body of dead boy, and into the arms of military troops stationed outside of the USA.

Photo-op! Propaganda session, and news room fodder.

Must keep Gremlin Brigade fed with bullshit images and double-think.

One branch of the military isn’t getting paid during Donald Trump’s government shutdown: The Coast Guard is funded through the Department of Homeland Security, not the Department of Defense. That means about 44,000 Coast Guard members working without pay and another 6,000 furloughed. They’ll be missing their first paychecks on January 1, according to a Coast Guard spokesperson.

Gee what a fucking shame. Congress can't get their shit together and work things out and that "inconvenienced" some people. Maybe if the Liberals would stop trying to sabotage everything out of spite like a bunch of spoiled, self important 6 year olds it wouldn't have had to happen.

Oh well, if Obama did it, then it's totally fine. Obama's shutdown didn't bother anyone at all.

Maybe if the Liberals would stop trying to sabotage everything out of spite like a bunch of spoiled, self important 6 year olds it wouldn't have had to happen.

Good. By your ridiculous notion, it's all good. Nothing's happened.

When someone shoves a ridiculous notion in my face, I respond in kind. Or with the truth. Whichever is more appropriate under the circumstances.

Is that like those "conservatives" who for eight years tried to sabotage everything Obama wanted to out of spite? The people who literally said they would be the party of no? You know, like a bunch of spoiled, self important 6 years olds.

If he bothered to absorb that, poor My I's head would explode, I think.

LOL. That's your problem. You think everyone's brain works the way YOURS does.

Conservatives didn't try to sabotage Obama. That tried to get them to be rational and reasonable. Didn't work. I coulda told them that.Between Obamacare and raising the min wage to $15/hr, I'm having a tough time choosing just what WAS the stupidest Liberal idea of the Obama years.

This is sad, appalling but not terribly surprising. A GOP plan to obstruct from day one. http://huff.to/K6hEHx

Democrats have rounded on revelations about a private dinner of House Republicans on inauguration day in 2009 in which they plotted a campaign of obstruction against newly installed president Barack Obama.

During a lengthy discussion, the senior GOP members worked out a plan to repeatedly block Obama over the coming four years to try to ensure he would not be re-elected.

No. I don't think your brain works at all. And I think you are a self-centered, insensitive, deplorable slob. ;)

Delusional.

You really shouldn't deny history. It has a funny way of being written down.

It reveals some of my reporting on the Republican plot to obstruct President Obama before he even took office, including secret meetings led by House GOP whip Eric Cantor (in December 2008) and Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell (in early January 2009) in which they laid out their daring (though cynical and political) no-honeymoon strategy of all-out resistance to a popular President-elect during an economic emergency. “If he was for it,” former Ohio Senator George Voinovich explained, “we had to be against it.”

Well, that's a far sight better than you then. And I have been called MUCH worse by far better people. You attempt to insult me but fail to understand that in order to be insulted, I first have to respect your opinion.

The partial US government shutdown has claimed a victim at the edge of the solar system — NASA's coverage of one of its own probes flying past the most distant object ever visited by a spacecraft.

The shutdown also means NASA has had to turn to another contractor lab, the Lunar and Planetary Laboratory at the University of Arizona in Tucson, to document when another space agency probe, OSIRIS-REx, goes into orbit around the asteroid Bennu, another milestone scheduled for New Year's Eve.

Everyone in science will be watching the long-awaited encounter — except for the space agency itself. Federal furlough rules forbid NASA employees from attending the festivities or the agency from broadcasting them as first planned from NASA TV.

NASA's New Horizons spacecraft will zip past the tiny frozen world called 2014 MU69 (better known by its nickname as Ultima Thule) at 12:33 a.m. ET on Jan. 1. Only about 22 miles wide, Ultima Thule is thought to be a pristine remnant of the comet belt beyond Pluto some 4.6 billion miles from the sun

I know it's a sorry situation, but I get a little amusement out of this. One of my niece's husband is a NASA official and a very vocal Trumpette. I'm giving his agony a bit of a smile.

And right there we have the BIG TRUTH. NONE of this has EVER been about what is right or wrong. NONE of this is EVER about what is best for the United States of America. This has ALWAYS been about "Let's see how much we can piss off people. 'Cause pissing people off is fun."

Just more childishness.

I don’t think you were paying attention...or choose not to...or are a Russian bot :).

Republicans openly said they were Obama obstructionists from day one...not trying to be rational and reasonable. If Obama came up with reasonable ideas Republicans pissed on it.

Paul Ryan even admitted it saying, when they couldn’t repeal ACA early in Trumps term, that Republicans had been the party of obstruction so long they forgot how to govern.

At Quartz, at least four journalists were stymied this week by government websites that have been closed due to current lack of funding. These are not the archives of small, niche agencies, but rather key sources of essential—and public—data from the biggest sectors of the federal government.

Beyond the examples our staff came across, there are a number of other agencies either no longer publishing new data, no longer updating their websites, or whose sites are now entirely inaccessible. Those include the Department of Commerce, the US Census, the Department of Interior, the Department of Homeland Security (which includes FEMA), and the National Archives—which has a few interesting exceptions:

The Reagan and W. Bush museums and sites are open, but the HW Bush, Clinton, and Obama museums and sites are shut down. It’s unclear why

(gsgs comment- Many private donors stepped in to provide funds.

Perhaps most glaringly, the festive bulbs on the National Christmas Tree lost their luminosity after a man climbed the Colorado blue spruce on Friday and damaged it. The shutdown made it much more complicated to do repairs, and the whole tree was cordoned off as part of a wave of closures.

After a weekend of disappointed holiday visitors, though, the gates were unlocked on Monday thanks to a donation from the National Parks Foundation. The lights are set to return Monday afternoon.

But they aren't sabotaging anything. Democrats and Republicans had a Continuing Resolution that would have funded the government without funding the wall until Feb. Anne Coulter and Rush Limbaugh raised hell and hounded Trump online. Trump being a big baby caved in to the pressure and told his senate leaders he wouldn't sign on the CR, leaving everyone in the lurch Democrats and Republicans. Everyone went home for the holidays thinking they had a deal and if anyone sabotaged things it was Trump and the ultra-right wing obsessed on getting 5 billion dollars for Trump's stupid wall.

That's because the shit he was gonna do was FUCKIN' STUPID!

"I got and idea... Let's start a Gov't healthcare program to make us look like we really CARE about the American People. We'll set it up to give them a choice, 'cause Americans love choices, so w'ell give them a choice of enroll in Obamacare and pay 30% more than they would if they went through a regular insurance company, or we take the cost out of their tax return, whether they want it or not. In fact, we can get one of those public sector companies to under write it. Hillary, you got some inlaws in the industry, don' cha? And they can have their profit and we'll take a cut too. And we can get a bigger cut if we limit them to doctors NO ONE wants to go to and they'll be behind the plan too so we can say Doctors support us. Then we can put a huge deductible on it and limit coverage to cut the costs and we walk away with 40% of the take. And best yet, We'll look like HEROES for it."

"Oh... Oh.... I got another idea. You're gonna LOVE this. We raise the minimum wage by 60%. No, wait, hear me out. Of course it won't work anyone with an IQ in triple digits will see that. But that shit for brains, dope head who's been at Burger King for four years and counting is gonna LOVE it. We can convince him that he's gonna be able to buy a fuckin' HOUSE. We'll have every sorry assed min wage worker in the country falling at our feet and they'll never figure out that when we hike the min wage, the employers are going to have to hike their prices to pay the higher wages and within 6 weeks $15/hr will buy less than $9/hr did. But that's OK 'cause we'll just rise it again and those poor dumb shits will keep voting for us. We'll have 'em in our pocket FOREVER!"

Yes there WAS a plan to fund the Gov't. But that defeats the purpose of forcing a shut down. The purpose of the shutdown is to FORCE congress to work together for a change and find a solution. By providing a different manner of funding the Gov't all you're really doing is giving them a paycheck to keep arguing about it and solve NOTHING.

Not that those over paid assholes can't afford a couple weeks off, especially over the holidays. But the lower ranking bureaucrats are gonna feel it pretty quick and are gonna start putting pressure on congress. This won't go on very long and we, the People, should not be paying for childish, spiteful, pig headed farktards to delay the process.

They did work together for. You know...for the CR.

The purpose of the shutdown is for Trump to go back to his base and say "You see I got you your wall, and didn't I look tough forcing this shutdown".

And its not the bureaucrats feeling the sharp end of the stick in this shutdown its the gov't workers being furloughed and working without pay.

That's no way to conduce bipartisan cooperation. "Work together or this guy you don't know doesn't go home with a paycheck this week."

Yeah, they'll work together to try and keep their paychecks. But that is not the issue that needs to be solved. If they worked together on THAT their paychecks would not be in jeopardy.
