If the government of the United States is, indeed, "of the people, by the people, for the people," then intentionally lying to the American people must logically be at least as egregious a federal misdemeanor as lying to Congress or government investigators is. And, of course, "misdemeanors" are constitutional cause for impeaching a President. I felt the same way when Nixon stared straight into the TV camera and maliciously lied to the American people, as I did when Clinton did the same, and as I do now as Trump continues to lie to the American people virtually every day, it seems.

I offer there's nothing better that can be done for the constitutional health of this country than for the Democrats to be drawing up legitimate articles of impeachment as I post, and for the new Democrat-majority House of Representatives to levy those articles as its initial order of business when it first convenes on January 3, 2019. And then the Democrat's second order of business should be to propose an Article of Amendment to the Constitution to repeal the 2nd by modifying constitutional arms rights to more reflect current public opinion.

Again, I don't believe any other two bare suggestions could possibly, positively rectify more the current direction this country continues to move toward.

Being entirely honest while not under oath is not a standard to which we have ever held our elected officials, at least not legally, only electorally.

I'm all for amending the Second Amendment, but it is politically impossible.

That has to be the most cogent post I've ever seen you make, Oreo.

I just think we need to interpret it as written, not as embellished and misconstrued for gun nuts' convenience.

As it is written, it makes no sense -- a well-regulated militia is palpably not necessary to the security of a free state. Militia have played no part in any American conflict since the Spanish-American War, militias in the original sense no longer exist in America, and yet we remain free and secure.

A citizen lying to the government is an imprisonable and fineable crime, while a government official deliberately lying to citizens is no crime at all.

Where does that place government's position in relation to the people?

yet we remain free

Virtually every facet of everyday citizen life in America today is regulated by government, all the way down to federally dictating how many gallons per flush the new toilet you buy at Home Depot must do, and you claim "we remain free".

Orwellian doublespeak for the loss.

:rolleyes: Free != unregulated.

The only real debate is how much freedom do we give the individual.

More free?? Or less free....

The number of those gun owners who would be any use against a regular army is pathetically small.

Ever heard of Vietnam?? Afghanistan?? The American Revolution??

Regular army doesn't fair well against guerrilla fighters, especially politically during and occupation.

It's so effective we don't even really use a "regular" army anymore, shit changed in the 90's and REALLY changed post 9/11.

You're free to dig a slit trench in the back yard.

Not without a permit.

Many places will not give you a occupancy permit unless you have yourself connected to sewer water and power. Even if you provide all of your own power you have to be connected to the grid in some locations or you cannot occupy your own property.

I do not want trump impeached but rather have the election results over turned based on Russian interference so we don't end up with Pence as president. Clinton would be better than Bitch McConnell.

Pence is being looked at on the same Russian collusion and obstruction of justice issues. He has lots of public statements on this that are lies according to a growing lists of testifiers. The arrangement could be to sweep them both out on the same charges. Then it :)D) goes to the speaker of the house in the succession plan. A good reason for dragging feet on this into the new year. :D

What "Russian interference?"

Too funny. :D

Agreed.

I mean if the Russians actually had the ability to influence voters why didn't Hillary just seek an in-kind contribution from the Russians instead of taking millions of dollars from them?. What makes them experts on the American voter over say American political operatives?

You are correct (for once,) the entire idea is laughable.
