Okay - here is your chance to prove your awesome political prognostication abilities, your psychic powers, your interpretation of obscure biblical prophecies, or just your flat out luck. I was going to create a poll, but there is a limit of 10 options, so lets just go from a list.

The list below is all of the known potential candidates for the DNC nomination as of 12/6/2018. These are people who've acknowledged they're exploring the possibility. I've excluded the strange and wishful thinking candidates or candidates who've expressed no interest.

Joe Biden
Michael Bloomberg
Tom Steyer
Elizabeth Warren
Cory Booker
John Hickenlooper
Kirsten Gillibrand
Bernie Sanders
Beto O'Rourke
Jeff Merkley
Sherrod Brown
Kamala Harris
Julian Castro
Eric Garcetti
Terry McAuliffe
Steve Bullock
John Kerry
A Candidate Yet Unnamed
And My Write In Is:

Who do you think is going to pull it off and go one-on-one with Trumpzilla?

I'll start - my win, place and show are:

Cory Booker for the Win
Kamala Harris for the Place
Joe Biden for the Show

Joe Biden-Missed his chance in 2016
Michael Bloomberg-In the current atmosphere among the Democratic base??? Don't be absurd.
Tom Steyer-Who da fuck?
Elizabeth Warren-Hell yeah.
Cory Booker-The lesser of two evils again.*sigh* He'd have an uphill battle to win over progressive voters.
John Hickenlooper-Who da fuck?
Kirsten Gillibrand-Yawn
Bernie Sanders-Hell yeah.
Beto O'Rourke-Possible hell yeah.
Jeff Merkley-Possible Sure why not
Sherrod Brown-Yawn
Kamala Harris-*sigh*Lesser of 2 evils. Its possible but she has a steep uphill battle to win over progressive voters.
Julian Castro-Who da fuck?
Eric Garcetti-Who da fuck?
Terry McAuliffe-who da fuck?
Steve Bullock-Any relation to Sandra?? and also who da fuck?
John Kerry-He still alive?
A Candidate Yet Unnamed---Unfortunately she's too young, so it aint possible, but...Alexandria Occasio-Cortez
And My Write In Is: The Rock maybe if he can be bothered between fast and furious sequels to run?

You can kinda see which wing of the Democratic party I fall within, but that's my honest immediate reactions to this list.

It will be interesting to see if a dark horse emerges. Personally, I don't see the progressive wing of the DNC getting behind a retired military officer, but that may just be my general skepticism.

I wonder though about the potential of another dark horse emerging from the pack. I think it will come down to a battle royale between the progressive and traditional wings of the Democratic party, with a consensus candidate emerging, which is why I lean toward Booker at this stage in the process.

At this point the Democratic Party has itself sitting at the same point the Republican Party was in 2015 - too many potential candidates, essentially drastically watering down the ability to form any cohesive narrative and potentially setting themselves up for a run-up knife fight in a phone booth. I am not sure Perez and team have the skills necessary to keep the knives pointed in the right direction.

I don't have any confidence in the Ds and Perez has the charisma of oatmeal

At this time I'm putting my money on Beto to get the nomination

I think the only ones pressing for a "who will it be for the Democrats?" are the Republican Swiftboaters who want their targets reduced. It's too early to start flipping possibilities out of the ring. We'll see how the realigned Congress and the Mueller results spin out.

agreed

Of course I have no idea, but the Dems should choose someone like Steve Bullock, who might just clobber the shit out of the current guy.

Tom Steyer
Elizabeth Warren dear Lord nope
Cory Booker

Bernie Sanders lol seriously?
Beto O'Rourke
Jeff Merkley
Sherrod Brown

I'm writing in Hillary in the primaries.

I think the more intriguing question might be who the Republicans are going to run in 2020. :D

I deliberately left the celebrity candidates off the list (Michelle, Chelsea, Oprah). At the end of the day I doubt any of them would bite, but I could easily be wrong. With Trump's win, I am sure every billionaire is day dreaming about it.

LOL - I agree on Perez apparently having the charisma of oatmeal. He was just a bad choice on the DNC's part.

Beto O'Rourke is press hot right now, but I'm not sure he has the appeal/political chops to make it through the nomination process.

I haven't paid much attention to Beto but he does seem to have charisma.

I don't think we will see real jockeying for position until after January. The Holidays, rampent speculation and Trump going apeshit will take the rest of Dcember.

Congress gets sworn in and the Demo's lay down the gauntlet to Mitch. "WHo's the Obstructionist NOW sucker?" Will take January, but Dreary Febuary, Ah time to deal a fucking in the gloom of Febuary!

March then the daggers will be sharpened and Iowa will serve rubber chicken to hundreds of hopefuls!
Spring will be a festival of egos!:D

What about Richard Ojeda?

That guy has a fire in him that I find appealing.
