Large earthquake rocks Anchorage, Alaska, causing 'major infrastructure damage'

https://www.yahoo.com/gma/large-ear...structure-195004002--abc-news-topstories.html

A massive earthquake -- registering 7.0 magnitude according to the U.S. Geological Survey -- rocked Anchorage, Alaska Friday, sending debris crashing to the ground, damaging buildings and causing "major infrastructure damage," officials said.

The quake happened about 7.5 miles north of the city, the USGS reported, and officials said residents there should brace for aftershocks. A tsunami warning was issued but later canceled.

I know...old news

Likely story!

The truth is that one of the locals fired up his snowmachine with the Silber turbo kit for the first time right at 8:29a.

Of course, Trump will be blamed for it. You think differently? Remember how W was blamed for Hurricane Katrina?

He was quite fairly blamed, not for the hurricane, but for the government's incredibly incompetent and ineffectual response to it. "Heckuva job, Brownie!"

Whether that will be repeated here remains to be seen.

Rory and his posse will be happy to know Sarah Palin's house was flattened.:(

The incompetence and ineffectiveness was even more pronounced in the lack of action by the city of New Orleans and the state of LA. I will never forget the rows of buses which, instead of transporting people to safety, were left to be submerged in water. And that was just one example.

I won't say anything good about W, but I will say worse things about the gov. and the mayor.

A friend lives in Palmer Alaska. She posted some pictures. Reminds me of the 89 World Series Quake here in California that did so much damage. Here she thought, she was moving to escape the earthquakes and strong aftershocks.

Again Earthquake insurance is very costly and very limited.

I don't believe I have ever before read of the Loma Prieta earthquake referred to as The World Series Quake, although that might be a better name for it. It was the biggest earthquake I've ever experienced.
