I need a new phone. It must be Android. It will not be a China-based manufacturer's phone.

Recommendations borne of first-hand experience appreciated.

Aren't they all manufactured in China or some other SE Asian location that pays workers poorly?

I love my Samsung s9+. Dont give a shit where it was made. Runs circles around anything out there

i switched to moto

no bloatware

I was thinking along the same lines hence my interest in the Essential Phone. I would have gone the Pixel 3 XL route for the stock Android experience, but the lack of expandable memory doesn't suit my needs.

I have an S7 Edge. I'm ready for something other than Samsung.

I'd love to have a newer phone. I've got a Note 5 and I want to have a larger phone like this one. Yes size matters.

I had the S7 too, it is nothing like it. Check it out at least. The screen is awesomeness and the camera is top quality. The big difference isn't the phone, but the Android system itself.

Samsung is Korean and has expandable storage to 1TB. You're getting a Note 9 unless you wait for the Note 10 and the Galaxy F (the foldable phone) in March/April 2019,

No expandable memory but you can get the 256GB version, it's the one I have. I may never buy anything but a OnePlus again and today is $100 off.

Swappa is also a good site to get good deals on open box, manufactured refurbs, brand new, and used.

The OnePlus 6T caught my eye, but, no, no Chinese. Same for that Huawei with that killer Kirin chip.

I've had Samsung since the S3, but each successive generation gets so much crap added to it that the performance doesn't match its top-shelf hardware.

I was thinking Essential Phone (2017) as a stop-gap until the new Pixel 3 XL gets its issues ironed out. I have 1TB googled drive, so, worst case scenario I upload and download through that as needed with unlimited Verizon Wireless. Backup would the the S10 next April.

Someone also offered me a 6s gratis, but I'm not likely to go iPhone.

Conundrum.

I've been on the Samsung train for a while. If it aint broke...

Stay away from the Essential. It caught my eye in the beginning but it turned out to be a turd. You can them for like a buck fitty right now.

Don't go 6T, the 6 is the better overall phone, I've read. I love mine, dude. The Note 9 has some bloatware but it's uninstallable, I believe. Double-check that.

Can't really go wrong with the Pixel 3. You'll have the updates before everyone else for life.

That new Kirin chip has already been able to run the new Android OS, "Fuchsia OS" in a lab. This is the next complete OS, taking over for Android.

I've tried both. 6T is more screen, no headphone jack, in-screen fingerprint, bigger battery. Otherwise, nearly identical.

Add me to the OnePlus vote. I've had a One and currently have a 5. Outstanding phones.

There are iPhones...and for the underclasses, there are the others.

Shut up, Lance, you've already proved multiple times you have no fucking clue when it comes to tech. Or anything else, for that matter.

That's what I've read. The in-screen FP sensor isn't up to snuff yet and the FP reader on the back of 6 works much more reliably. The internals are identical.

Hells to the yeah! My mom has my 5 now that I got the 6.

Shaddup, lil lace or I'll throw your Rose Gold iPhone into your fake pond.

Oh, btw, I finally bought a smart watch yesterday. One of these:

£99 lightning black Friday deal on Amazon yesterday.

I've been reading good things about the Tic brand. The Samsung Frontier 3 can be had for about $160 now that the Galaxy watch has been released. I was thinking about that one but my Samsung S2 is still working great.

I have a Pixel 2 XL. It's an excellent phone with a superior camera. It's as good or better than any Iphone. I didn't buy the new Pixel 3 because I didn't think the newer version justified changing from the Pixel 2 XL.

The reader is an ir camera behind the screen. It's reliable, but slower than a physical reader, bordering on annoyingly so.

Most ppl would do better waiting another generation before getting a phone with this sort of reader. I still prefer it, warts and all, since I hate having it on the back.
