This is my favorite image of all time, her eyes are one of my most vivid memories. She was an Afghan girl who survived the Russians, the Taliban, and all the wars in the region. She raised children and they raised more. I know that the Hijab is a controversial image for women's strength, but this woman has survived more than most people can imagine. Her name is Sharbat Gula and you can look up her story, it does have a happy ending.

The Hijab is not just a symbol of women's subjugation, but women's empowerment as well. It fits in well with the complicated subject of this thread. Way to go!
