The good ole chat room programs! GONE!

I remember years ago when yahoo messenger was the king of all chat programs, You could search for members by area and by interest then they cut out search that you had to know the exact name or email of a person to search . then the chat rooms got eliminated, was a great tool for meeting people, but now that is all gone, is there any programs left out there to be able to find people to chat with?

But those you cant search for people by location or by a interest, You must know the exact name, email address or a username of a specific person.

There are threads here for each platform

People post their user name and their interests (sometimes) so that’s one way to filter out things

But yes ~ not the same

I miss those old chat rooms too, I met a number of people through them. And lots of fun even when not looking to meet IRL.

I used to use the AOL chat rooms for similar purposes. Never really got into the yahoo messenger chat rooms.

I lament the loss of the old chat programs as well.
