Yeah, it's bullshit that Education Secretary DeVos and Attorney General Sessions want to define gender as either male or female depending upon the "genitals a person is born with".

So, what are they going to do, run cat scans on every newborn to determine if a baby born with a vagina also might have undescended testicles?

How about babies who are obviously intersex at birth? Will they flip a coin?

How about the female-appearing babies with a Y-chromosome that has not fully expressed itself at birth, or the whole spectrum of genetic and hormonal variation that takes place in the human species?

So, in other words, this is yet another rejection of science by the Trump administration, purportedly to keep locker rooms "safe", but really to allay the hateful fundamentalist portion of the Trump voting base.

So, what can be said about this? For one thing Trump is desperate for mid-term votes, so leaking a memo will help bolster the votes of the christian-whackos is no surprise. Same with this latest bs about kicking off a new arms race or the shock-and-outrage over Khashoggi's murder - like he gives a shit for journalists. It's all about his ego, his vanity, his obsessive need to be the leading twitter poster in the globe. "Make America great again?" America already was great, he's just made it grate.

But back to the trans thing. Science. These two-gender-defined-at-birth and set in stone XX/XY is out of the same fuckwit mindset that is trying to teach creationism in schools. You can't argue with people like that and you're not allowed to shoot them. All you can do is vote

Over 1600 scientists including 8 Nobel Laureates have signed this open letter denouncing the proposal as "fundamentally inconsistent not only with science, but also with ethical practices, human rights, and basic dignity".

Nature - probably the most prestigious scientific journal in the world - has just published a scathing editorial:

The proposal — on which HHS officials have refused to comment — is a terrible idea that should be killed off. It has no foundation in science and would undo decades of progress on understanding sex — a classification based on internal and external bodily characteristics — and gender, a social construct related to biological differences but also rooted in culture, societal norms and individual behaviour.

On a brighter note: It remains a fact that the Fool's base is an aging population. Thus, the future is going to correct this disastrous mistake eventually. However, that does not negate the huge setbacks taking place in regard to climate change because of this fool. The accelerating number of consequences are becoming a daily news event somewhere in the world. How to turn this around?

It's the money folks. It's always the money. The global oligarchs are systematically buying governments around the globe. Government officials and politicians up to the highest level are bought and paid for by these interests. I have my doubts that democracies can stop this takeover. So these issues are the big ones, IMO. The asinine antics of a reality show star seem more like a distraction than anything else, except for the fact that he is an enabler of those who pull his strings...which leads to more damage to the environment.

It really does seem like it's getting down to one issue...will we be able to do enough fast enough to avoid an environmental collapse which will affect every living thing on Earth?
